Yea I would like to be more consistent. The other guy who uses football guys has won more money because he has a few second place finishes. I have won 4 and besides that I haven't came close. If I don't win I'm usually around 9 or worse so maybe I need to look at it different
The only thing I can think of is that you are using your same LU for double ups as you are for your league, and I am not sure that is the best.  The chalky cash lineups are usually designed for the safe plays and not for getting to 180pts, and that's why I asked what type of LUs are winning these things (I don't have any experience with these).  Do you have an estimate on what type of score is usually needed for 1st and 2nd place?

Always above 150 and the last couple have beeen above 170.  I have scored the highest. I went for 194 one week. It's usually between 165-175 to win or place 2nd

Interesting.  Not sure how you become more consistent with that then, as those scores are decent scores in other gpps and the line to reach is much higher.  In theory your LUs should be more boom/bust and less chalk to get to those points, but that by definition makes it less consistent.   At least you know that Anderson has given you a good start this week.

I was liking Asiata against the Colts but now he has an ankle injury, and AD has been actiavted... strongly considering him in about 10% of lineups

Staying away from Rodgers and the Wrs this week myself (Ok, I have him in a 25 cent entry).  Just saw on Rotoworld that he hasn't practiced all week and seems to be on a short leash b/c of the silly temperatures and possibility of worsening his injuries.

However, it looks like Montgomery is the RB1 this week with Starks out and that intrigues me in this ice bowl, as I would assume passing could be difficult.  His salary is a tad high, but it does interest me to have 4 RBs in a LU since he is designated as a WR still on DK.  ALSO, Chicago could be a sneaky gpp play.  This game is a hard one to predict, probably low scoring with the temperatures, and now there is a possibility of seeing the terrible backup for GB in the game.

Well, since I am a broken record about jamming in 3 'studs' at RB, figured I would record my thoughts here and see if any of my thoughts hit.  Going to throw out some dirt cheap names I looked at for my LUs as I scoured around to save money for my DJ/Bell/McCoy LUs:

TE:

There are a few names in the 2500 club that interested me this week:  Gresham, D.Brown, R.Griffin Burton.  Gresham I talked about already.  He has been one of the tops in targets over the last few weeks, and has a few games in a row of 5 catches.  Brown has also been seeing a lot of targets.  This situation is a little muddled with the weather and Jeffery coming back, but remember all we would need is a 2-20-1td line to get 4x+ out of these guys.  Griffin pops out now that CJ Fied is out for the week.  Jax is good vs. WRs and about all Brock can do is get the ball to the TE.  We all focus on Ertz in Philly, but with their problems at WR, Burton has been just as active as Ertz the last couple weeks.  Since week 11, his targets has increased every week, and has seen 9 and 10 targets the last 2 weeks.  Not bad for 2500.  The last guy is Clay for 2700.  He hasn't been as active lately, but Cleveland is worst this year at defending the TE and have averaged 17+pts/game allowed to the position.

WR:

A few options are in that SF/Atl game, and all are sub-3500.  A.Robinson, Kerley, and Patton.   People will be on Gabriel again this week with Julio out, but Robinson saw as many targets last week and was close to having a big game, plus is 2000+ cheaper.  IF you think Atl gets up big on SF, you would think they would have to throw to somebody.  McDonald and T.Smith are out, and Atl's secondary isn't that great.  C.Patterson vs. the crappy Colts and has the ST scoring upside too.  I like to pair these guys with their Ds when I can, and did that in a gpp or two this week.  Perriman has a TD in 3 of his last 4 games, and Philly gives up more big plays than any other D in the league.  There were also grumbles in the Baltimore this week about too much dinking and dunking.  Not sure about the weather in this game though.  S.Roberts is always a favorite dart of mine.  There is a chance that SD puts their CB on Cooper and that might free up more targets.  Carr looks for him a lot in the RZ and he is always min priced.

I am not saying to start these guys in cash (i still did), but it's interesting if you can enter in a gpp with Ryan/DJ/Bell/Zeke and fill the rest with cheap guys...

I threw a few bucks at gpps this week here at DK. The DJ McCoy Freeman is at 31st out of 59k. $1 into $30. Highest I got was $40, had a decent shot at getting to the top. Needed Carr to have a better 4th quarter and if Nelson had that last Arz TD that would have been large. Helped that I played Montogomery at WR. Only anchor was Lee (and Carr I guess).

Nice!

Looks I might be heading towards my first losing week in a few.  Maybe my Cousins lineup and get me close to even though.  Pretty frustrating as I had DJ, Bell, and McCoy in a lot of them, just didn't get the right combo of cheap guys and 2 of my LUs missed their cuts by a point or two.  Oh well, try again next week.

Best one I have is sitting at 163 with Zeke left to play. That one is:

Ryan - McCoy/Freeman - T.Hill/JJNelson/A.Rob(atl) - R.Griffin - Zeke - KC

Well, that LU above saved my hide this week.  Ended up winning $50 on that one, and had a similar LU with the core of Ryan/Freeman/McCoy/Zeke that also got about 170pts and maybe $20 off my $4 entries.  So this is a week my gpp saved my horrible showing with my cash LUs and ended up about +$20 for the week.  Cousins + Crowder will have to score around 35-40pts for that cash LU to do anything and make any more $$.

I didn't get onto Montgomery with my main slate lineup (pro tip, don't make real life plans from 10am - 2 pm Sunday if you want to make optimal decisions), but did have him in early only which outscored my main slate lineup 148 to 130.

Had a gpp finish with 184 good for a half decent score in the 3 max tournaments, was about 15 point short of a big score.

Yeah, I should have listened to my own thoughts and gotten him in more LUs.  Slammed him in a couple gpps to go with 3 stud Rbs, but those had cheap QBs at the helm and low end WRs, none of which did much.  I was really looking at my cash LUs, but in the end didn't have the time to rework them as the kids were running around.

Well you guys talked me into Taylor since I really didn't love any QB's this week and it worked out.  Ended up going Taylor/Bell/Zeke/Crabtree/Gabriel/R.Matthews/L.Green/Dixon/Cowboys for a 149.06 total. Cashed in a $2, $5, $5, and $25 double up plus the $3 Double Bubble and $1 Singleback GPP's, only misses were two private $5 leagues I do regularly.

As I know it comes up from time to time $25 double up had a cash point of 128.04, $5 double up 127.52, $2 double up 127.38 so not much difference.

I'm gonna need 34 from Cousins and Crowder to get 2nd in my league which will pay $9.72. 1st place scored 154. I can't get there

Looked back and wanted to see how this worked.  I only hit on 1/3 of them - Montgomery, Robinson, Griffin, Clay.   Kerley, Gresham, and Patterson didn't kill you and a couple were close to the 3x you want for cash.  Couple were flops.  Not sure if this is good or not, just wanted to grade myself and see where I landed on these.

Still not doing as well on DK as FD. Bet 195 Won 166 for week. All 3 of my cash LU won a little money, but none cleaned up. I went 3 stud RB LU in all three LU with DJ-Bell-Zeke in all 3. Had to go value at most other spots and Anderson, Humphries, and JJ paid off, but had each in different LU's. Lee, Hogan, Kerley didn't do so well. Griffen paid off at TE, Gresham and Doyle not so much.

Running out of steam and time at the end of the season here, been too busy to even keep up with my process, much less post. I will try to do better next week.

Yeah, you had to nail those cheap guys this week, especially since the cheap Qbs basically made their 3x max, but none gave us an extra pop like we were hoping.

Still think this is the way to go, at the very least having that flex be a RB in cash.  No surprise that the top 5 non-Qb scorers over the last 5 weeks are Bell, DJ, McCoy, Zeke, and Nelson.  Zeke and Nelson are close in points, but McCoy is 6pts/g more than them, DJ 10pts/g and Bell 12pts/g.  So in theory starting off with the high priced RBs is getting you a 25pts+/g head start on other LUs on average.  It is an interesting week with matchups and the prices of those guys coming down a little bit due to matchups.
