12-team re-draft league, standard scoring for the most part. Run on CBS and the draft order has always been drawn randomly through the site and witnessed by more than just the commish.
Looking for opinions on the following suggestion made by a couple of teams in the league.
Suggestion: Instead of the typical serpentine draft, base the order for the following year on a weighted ping pong ball drawing directly tied into the standings for the current year (i.e., team who finishes 12th, gets more ping pong balls and a better chance at the #1 pick the following year). Like the NBA lottery.
Arguments Against: Wouldn't this create situations of teams who are out of playoff contention tanking (subtly, of course) at the end of the year? Why the hell does this year have anything to do with next year, when everybody pays the same entry and should have an equal opportunity to get the #1 pick?
The thinking is that the teams making this suggestion are just disgruntled because they have a low pick (again - last year they had low picks too).
