Brees, age 41 can’t be franchise tagged and carries over $21 Million in Dead Cap money. Will the Saints again re-sign him and kick the cap can further down the road or could he be traded, released or would he retire?

If he isn’t under contract and can’t be franchised, how can he be traded? Are you suggesting a sign and trade? The Saints would eat any signing bonus money and additional salary cap hit if they did that. Similarly, he can’t be “released.” And if he isn’t on the Saints roster next year, they will have to eat the $21 million cap hit.

(Also posted in the Taysom Hill thread)

Right now, people are thinking “impossible!” ... but Taysom Hill is legitimately in play to be the Saints opening-day starting QB in eight months.

For the first time, it has struck me that Brees may no longer control his exit from New Orleans. Not sure if Payton has it in him to initiate the breakup, though.
