Dustin Keller (1 Viewer)

I didn't watch the game (thanks CBS) but what was the deal with Dustin Keller yesterday? He was targeted nine times, but only three of those passes resulted in receptions for a measly 25 yards.

Was it a case of poor passes from Sanchez, was Keller dropping them or was the Browns defense that good?

A little bit of all of the above. He was targeted in the endzone on a play designed for him but fell and couldn't make the grab.

Sanchez was off on a lot of his throws to Keller. Despite the win and overall good stats, he was off target overall much of the day before picking it up in the 4th quarter and OT.

It seemed clear to me that the Browns made a real effort to limit Keller. that makes sense. Keller has been a great security blanket to Sanchez, as most good TEs are for young QBs. I like Keller's ability and all but I am starting to think this was a classic sell high guy about a month ago.

As the weather gets colder and Sanchez improves, the ground game and the WRs on that team appear like they will become more improtant to that team than the TE.

At least three of the passes to Keller were with Sanchez being pressured and getting off bad throws that sailed over his head. Two of them would have been for virtually no gain anyway. In general though the addition of Holmes has added another weapon to the arsenal that has taken targets away from the rest of he receivers. Cotchery is lost for at least two weeks it loooks like, so that should benefit Keller a little.

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully Zach Miller will be back this week and I can put Keller on the shelf. Miller should have a field day against the Steelers.

Anyone else starting him against Houston? I like the matchup and Cotchery is out.
I am still on the fence with Keller. I agree that thematchup is good and Cotchery being out should help but Keller hasn't scored a TD since Santonio Holmes came back from suspension. Tough decision.

Seriously? Putting Keller on the shelf against HOU to play a gimpy Miller against the Steelers coming off a huge loss? Just remember Jason Campbell isn't Tom Brady.

Gimpy or not, Miller is more the focal point of their respective passing games than Keller is.

So is Keller vs Hou a better play than Watson against Jax? Does the Cotchery injury counter the Holmes addition?

Keller is still a top 10 TE given that the talent pool has been decimated by injuries and underperforming players. The saying goes "you could do worse". Start him every week but lower expectations. He is more of a boom or bust.

Funny you mention it b/c I'm thinking about OAK Zach Miller over Dustin Keller. Keller has the better matchup this week but I agree that Miller is more the focus of his offense.

Same boat here.Should it be an assistant coach thread if three of us are all wanting the same information?I'm really torn on this decision. At one point this year I was starting them both (my WRs & RBs were bad). I currently have Keller in there, but if Miller is 100%, I'm probably going to start him as he just has done much better consistantly. Tough call this week, though.

Miller has had a total of 6 ctaches in the last three games he's played. Just sayin...

I've been sticking with Keller for the last four weeks as Heap has been on my bench scoring pts. Heap plays Car who gives up pts to TE's but I have to stick with Keller because as soon as I sit him he will go off. I could pick up Fasano who is on waivers but I think he's a one week wonder.

Yea... that bugs me. He practiced some today (was limited) but I think I'll keep rolling with Keller for now... either looks like a decent option this week though.

Zach Miller and Marcedes Lewis combined for 9 catches 132 yds and 1 TD last week vs the Texans. I'm starting Keller over V.Davis and Sanchez over Shaun Hill. Believe in the Houston pass defense. It's that terrible.

Anyone think with Sanchez stinking it up he might go back to his safety valve? There's not much on the wire, but heading into the playoffs I'm not excited about the 3-4 points I've been getting from this hump each week.

Keller should be a mismatch in most games, but:Keller tends to not focus consistently; sometimes he looks like he is in the Twilight Zone with his lack of concentration imoThat dopey "Man-genius" Schottenheimer doesn't know how to take advantage of the mismatch Sanchez has a man-crush on HolmesOn any given game, he can go off, but his numbers have dropped considerably since the return of Holmes
