Dwayne Bowe -- Really?!? Did you just reveal this?!? (1 Viewer)

This story won't go anywhere.

Bowe didn't name any names, so I don't see why vets would turn against him (especially because if you DO turn against him, you risk outing yourself as one of these travel agents).

And the media won't pick up on it either. Any reporter that ever wants to make these guys look bad when it comes to women won't have to look far. For whatever reason, they never pursue these stories. It would take a diligent reporter about one week to dig up embarrassing stories on about half the guys on any NFL team. I am guessing that they don't want to burn bridges in the locker room. If you are a beat writer for a team, and you start going on and on about these guys' sexual lives, I can see you getting blackballed real quick. This story isn't on ESPN, is it?

If Bowe plays well, you'll really see this story disappear.
Good thing noone pursued that whole Vikings Love Boat Story...

The year he was selected NFL player of the Year, Eugene Robinson got busted with a prostitute.......hell, I think it was the night before the Super Bowl.

Some of these guys play on/off the field....just the way it is.

Naive to think this stuff does not go on. For some of these players, an away game is basically a vacation.....away from the nagging wife and newborn/children.

Another comparison that doesn't work. That was very public, and the players misbehaved in impressive fashion.

And for others, like Travis Henry, it's a way to start a family.....

Former Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive linemen Jimmy Wilkerson refuted Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe’s clams that veteran players “imported” women into the team’s hotel prior to a win over San Diego in 2007. Bowe made the claims in ESPN The Magazine , which hits newsstands Friday.

Wilkerson stated that security is so tight on road trips that bringing in women would be impossible. I’ve stayed at several different team hotels often over the years and Wilkerson is right. Security is airtight. Wilkerson made it sound like Bowe may have to deal with some of his teammates over the comments - Bill Williamson ESPN

Seriously, Jamarcus Russell and Dwayne Bowe both from LSU. I don't blame LSU alumni for burying their collective heads in the sand.

I shared a hotel in S.D. with the Chiefs in 2000. Our Marine Corps Ball was held in the same hotel and my buddy was drunk as a skunk chasing Tony Richardson all over the joint, talking football. After following him down the hall to Tony's door, my friend went stumbling back down the hall and took a leak IN THEIR HALLWAY, in his dress blues no less! Real tight security.

just ask Tiger how to do this correctly on a Wed-Sun regular occurance. He has it mastered.

I do suppose it would be harder if the whole team was in the hotel.

"the entire top floor of hotels" for chicks? Peyton Manning would've said something by now.

Looks like some media are reporting it. It doesn't help Bowe that his "No Homo" comment describing his developing rapport with Cassel is also salacious fodder for the journalists.

I blame Carney for this mess.

Haley has long conversation with Bowe

While the Chiefs are officially employing the "No comment" line to reporters, Todd Haley was asked about Dwayne Bowe's comments today on the Jim Rome Show.

"Uh, Jim, I appreciate the question," he said, "and I know that's kinda been the hot topic here yesterday and today. But I'm going to stick to things that have occurred on my watch and keep it at that."

The story in question took place in 2007 -- before Haley and GM Scott Pioli took over -- so Haley's response is reasonable, I think.

Like a good interviewer, Rome asked another question of Haley after he said he didn't want to talk about it. He asked if he had talked to Bowe about the story in question.

"Yeah, I actually did," Haley said. "I had a long conversation [with Bowe] last night. But, again, the details of that conversation, as I hold as my policy, will stay between Dwayne and I. But definitely something that, I think, if you don't at least talk about it, [that] would probably be a mistake."

I'm not quite sure what to make of this. The question at this point is if the Chiefs will take any action against him. According to Haley's "stick to things that have occurred on my watch" comments, I think action from the Chiefs side may be unlikely.

Former Chiefs speak out against Bowe

The local NBC affiliate here in Kansas City sought out the opinion of a couple of former Chiefs regarding the now infamous "importing" story from current Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe. One former Chief, Jimmy Wilkerson, has already strongly denied Bowe's accounts of that San Diego road trip.

Former cornerback Patrick Surtain indicated that Bowe's statements not only demonstrate poor judgment but are the equivalent of throwing your teammates under the bus.

"Wow! If it did happen, you shouldn't be telling a magazine," he said, according to NBC-41. "He probably broke the code for every NFL player that's ever played."

Indeed and that's the problem a lot of folks have with this story. He implicated his teammates -- even if they're unnamed -- by telling the story. Implicit in Surtain's words above are that he had or has no knowledge of the "importing" that was going on.

I reached out to one former Chief who was on the team in '07 and, while he declined comment on this story, did say the story was brought to his attention by -- you guessed it -- his wife.

As Surtain suggests, there are some things better left unsaid.

Similarly, Boomer Grigsby, who was on the team in '07, wants no part of Bowe's story.

"There wasn't anything of that sort going around with the crowd that I ran with," Grigsby said. "And I think I can pretty much speak to the rest of the team as well."

Now that is how you answer a question about "importing" women.

Frank Wycheck was talking about it on the radio this morning here.It would be hard to get them into your room...but the article was talking about the girls having a whole floor...the guys were going up there.

It is great drama! These guys make enough to get the "fringe" benefits. It's only the natural counterbalance for it to be so public and embarrassing when they come to light. I'm loving this story abd cannot get enough of it. I want people to get caught and I want to hear from the wives afterwards. Is that really so bad?

I have no doubt this happens with many teams on the road, but the fact this dumb #### from MY home team opened his dumb ### mouth, I'm ready to EXPORT his ### to the black hole if that's what it takes...or worse, Denver, let him deal with coach joshie.

On a side note, maybe JaCarcass and D(um)-Bowe should start a reality show of some type, call it "Post Grad - Cajun Style!"

Bowe didn't have to name anyone because he basically implicated everyone. Single or narried , guilty or innocentI'm guessing you're not married
Easily the biggest issue IMO is for the married players I'm sure most of their wife's are already suspicious and complaining every time they go on the road now with Bowe saying this those guys are in a world of ear pain.

This is not good. I would be furious to find out this is what my employees were doing while I was paying them. They should be watching film or studying their playbook if their eyes are open.
I'm a little more lenient. I don't mind if my employees have sex.
On the job?
Just FYI, they were not on the field, this was a hotel at night... not exactly on the job. I could understand the coaches getting pissed if they were having sex on the field during the game.
How about after curfew?

They're in their hotel rooms, right?Curfew doesn't mean in bed, curled up in the fetal position, with a pillow tucked between your legs, listening to the sounds of the ocean at a low volume. This isn't summer camp.
