I was reading another thread and it made me think. Here is how it unfolds in my dynasty league:

January

Start of New Year

Salary Cap expires (shown as $1,000 cap for each team)

Rosters Locked

Contracts are reduced by 1 year

Holdout players are named

Player raises are implemented

Salary cap penalties are entered for following year

Players become Free Agents (2006 contracts expire)

Players can be dropped and trades can be made by contacting commissioner

March

Decisions on holdout players due from team owners (cut, trade or resign at higher salary)

July

Rosters expand to 50 (from 43) and unlock

Free agency period

August

Last day that contract extensions for players expiring 2007 can be submitted -Aug 1

Rookie draft starts 10am EST-Aug 19

Rosters unlock at Noon EST-26

When does your league hold the rookie draft? Is the FA period before the rookie draft or after?

the 3 dynasty leagues i am in are 16 team idps and have activity all year round

jan 1 - rosters expand from 45 to 53, ir and taxi squads are promoted to active roster, 2 rounds waivers run, fcfs open after that

5 round rookie draft - about 1 week after nfl draft, rosters expand to 58,ww closes during draft

roster cut to 45 and 3 man taxi - about a week before nfl week 1
