Dynasty Rankings (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you know that my IDP dynasty rankings will be updated by gametime on 11-27-11. Feel free to post here if a player is missing or way out of line. I have a limited amount of time to do them and apologize if I miss someone.
Thanks Anthony. They'll be much appreciated.

DL is up.

If anyone sees something out of whack, let me know. I did do them quicker than I would have liked because I want them all done before game time tomorrow, but I will go back through them next weekend.

I'm going to try and keep them updated at least every 2 weeks going forward with the hopes of keeping them up year-round.

Also, with this season only having 5 weeks left and the majority of league trade deadlines past, this is more a reflection of next year and beyond than this year.

DB rankings are up, so all positions have been updated.

If you think someone is not listed that should be or way out of line, let me know. I did these a little quicker than I would have preferred due to time restraints and a need to complete them before the games today.

As usual, DBs were extremely hard to rank. There are a few players that are posting big numbers this year but only because they are not starting caliber players. That normally means opposing QBs attack them and that usually results in high tackle numbers. If, in my opinion, I don't think these players are locked into their starting jobs, then they will be ranked much lower than their current numbers suggest.

I also tend to look for players with upside towards the bottom of the rankings, along with some players that are consistently in or near the top 50 in scoring.

Because there are only 5 games left after this week, I am pretty much looking to next year and beyond with little if any consideration to this year.

All rankings are linked in the first post. I will try to update them every 2 weeks going forward.

Enjoy.

J.J. Watt at 45 seems low to me.He is having a pretty good rookie year, and thats not the norm for rookie DEs.Wondering your reason for the low ranking?

I'm generally not a big fan of 3-4 DEs to begin with. They generally do not consistently put up fantasy numbers much higher than the top 25-30 outside of a few like Dockett in the past and Campbell this year. Watt has a high number of solo tackles and I'm not sure that will continue in the future. The only 3-4 DEs that have solo tackle numbers higher than the low 20s are Justin Smith and Calais Campbell. It's rare to see a 3-4 DE with that many solos. At this time I am not convinced that Watt will put up solo tackle numbers like that regularly. For me to put Watt in the top 20-30 he will have to get more sacks. Generally a 3-4 DE has to get a minimum of 5 sacks to be a top 25 DL. Also, the tier in that area is pretty big, probably from the mid 30s to around 50 or so. Most of the players above him in that general area are 4-3 DEs and I think they have more value because of sack upside. Basically, as a rule 3-4 DEs have little upside compared to 4-3 DEs so I will usually rank them low. In Watt's case, I need to see more and he has to be able to increase his sack numbers before I will move him up.

Surprised Darian Stewart isn't on the DB list. He has been matching, if not outperforming, Mickell all year (he is #14 vs. Mickell's #18 among DBs in my league's scoring) and is only in his 2nd year.

Was this an oversight or do you think he can't/won't sustain this level of performance?

How did I know Watt would get 2 sacks after I said the above? :lol:I definitely have to take a closer look here. Thanks for commenting.

When I say DBs are tough to rank, I literally mean I could drop the bottom 25-30 and replace them from a pool of another 50-60 and not be wrong in the rankings. Stewart is in that group. They really are that tough to rank. In the case of Stewart, my concern is that Mikell is a natural strong safety who has lined up at free safety. I have to wonder if the Rams will go forward with essentially 2 strong safeties in their lineup. This is a tough call because the Rams have so many weaknesses that they very well could be starting both next year. I should have him ranked somewhere though (and will when I do my next update) since he has been productive. Thanks for pointing this out.
