Felix was picked over Mendenhall so Dallas really wanted him. He may not be the #1 but he will be used extensively, probably a lot on the field with Barber like Deuce and Bush in New Orleans. They did not draft a WR early so after TO they really dont have a lot. Crayton is too inconsistent. Who n=knows about Glenn. Would not be surprised to see Jones with the 2nd most receptions on the team, even more than Witten. He will have plays specifically run for him.

I'm probably going to end up being in the minority, but I like Smith. I think he is underrated as a talent. I don't particularly like that he ended up in Det other than he will have one of the best chances to play early. Long term however, Det is well... Det. Regardless, I don't think he is extraordinary physically and he does need to put on some weight for the NFL. However, the more I watch of this guy the more I like his vision and ability to cut back. That is probably the one thing I look for most in RBs.

Really? A few weeks ago, heck April 26th, no one liked K.Smith. Every except M=S. Wow how things have chanced. I wonder what ConstruxBoy thinks of Mr.Smith now? I guess His breaking down of the tapes didn't go so well.

None of these guys are sure-fire studs, but I voted Smith, by a hair over Forte. Just because Smith's situation is slightly better.

Jones will have his TD opportunities limited by Barber, TO and Witten, at a minimum. If MBIII signs a long-term deal, that limits Jones even further. If he doesn't Choice could eat into his production.

Johnson, I view as RB Chris Henry Ver 2.0. Johnson and Henry will probably both play extensively on special teams to off-set the loss of Pacman. As much hate as he generates as long as Fisher is the coach, LenDale will still get most of the carries and goal line work.

Johnson is so much more than Henry. It's not even the same race.

Please explain why you view Johnson as Henry 2.0. What do they have in common besides both having a fast 40 time?

I don't think that no-one liked Smith a few weeks ago. I had him as the #4 rookie RB in the draft in January and I'm sure others liked him as well.

Dynasty RB rankings, Non PPR, rookies included

JanDynasty, no PPR. Broken down in 12 player increments so owners can see where their players stack up in a twelve player league. RB has shorter time frame to make impact so the balancing act is of weighing elder players VS. long term upside of yute. Included some rookies due to the fact that some older RBs will be replaced. Really difficult to rank prior to draft when including rookies so take this with a huge grain of salt.

* denotes rookie

... 16. Darren McFadden*

27. Rashad Mendenhall*

35. Jonathan Stewart*

38. Kevin Smith*

43. Felix Jones*

Ray Rice*
I missed on Forte and certainly didn't see him going to Chicago so that would knock down my ranking of Benson back in January but for a list made months before the draft that tried to plug in rookies I would say that wasn't too bad of an effort. But I liked Kevin Smith back then and I'm sure others did as well.

I don't necessarily mean they are similar in the skills they bring, but both were drafted earlier than anticipated based on workouts and neither appear to be the workhorse, between the tackle, type back that Fisher and TEN love to use. The other thing they have in common is LenDale White getting the majority of the work, including redzone opportunities.I'm not saying the Johnson will be worthless, as he could have great value as a COP back, split out and most definitely on special teams. But his size appears to limit him as an everydown back, especially in the type of offence Fisher/TEN run. His greatest value will probably be in PPR leagues that reward for ST yardage.

Other - Matt Ryan. Would also consider Felix Jones. The other RBS bust percentage is too high of a risk for me.

No one has really provided any commentary on Forte but at the time of my post he has almost 30% of the vote (2nd to Smith).

I have the 4th pick in my dynasty rookie draft and I've done a good amount of research on both Smith and Forte. I haven't spent much time on Jones or Johnson yet. I don't like Jones at 1.04 because IMO Barber is going to get over 20 carries a game and there are just too many other people in that offense who will get touches.

From what I've seen Forte is the more talented and NFL ready RB. He has a great NFL build. He has good vision and explosion through the hole and enough speed beyond the line of scrimmage to run away from defenders. He may not have the break away speed to out run guys in the secondary but he uses his size well to hold guys off long enough to gain an extra few yards before being brought down. He always seems to fall forward and he doesn't shy away from contact. He may not break anyone’s ankles a la Barry Sanders but he does have good enough lateral movement to make a defender shift his weight one way and run the other. He keeps his feet moving and runs with a lower pad level than Smith. I think he is much more likely to run through a defender where as Smith seems more likely to run out of bounds or try to run around him.

Smith is speedy and shifty but he seems more comfortable trying to take it out side. He has great acceleration to out run defenders. He is much more of an upright runner than Forte and doesn't seem to take on defenders with the same intensity as Forte.

I think in the NFL where defenders are better tacklers and use better angles to get to the ball carrier Forte is better suited to make plays and get positive yardage.

Smith is probably in a better situation to get carries early with no real threats in the backfield. Detroit's passing game will mean less 8 man fronts. The Bears have a lot invested in Benson and defenses are less concerned with Chicago's passing game. The Bears do have the stronger Defense and should be able to keep scores close enough to run the ball whereas Detroit may have to abandon the run in the second half of a lot of games.

Anyways, there is my  I think I'll take Forte with my 1.04.

Voted Smith by a hair over Forte. And this isn't because of situation. I think Forte and Smith are very talented. More so than Jones or Johnson. Before the draft, I would have had Rice at #4 based on talent, but his situation has moved him down. If I was in a league where I could keep a rookie for more 3-4 years (contract league), Rice would get stronger consideration. But I think Rice has to sit at least a year, if not two, to play.

Talent-wise, Smith, Forte, and Rice are above Jones and Johnson for me.

What do you mean bye "Talent" or "Talent-wise"? All these backs have different skillsets.

 Please.

I wonder if you still think Stewart will be a FB :lmao:

I think Smith will be a major bust. The only thing getting drafted by a team with craptastic RBs does is it will show us Smith is a BUST quickly.

You should add at least Matt Ryan, Ray Rice, James Hardy.

Because drafts will be all over the place this year, include more players in each poll.
