Dynasty rookie draft rule question (1 Viewer)

Sorry if this isn't the right spot for this. In one of my dynasty leagues we draft 3 rounds for the rookie draft. You have to drop three players to get your three picks. If you drop less than three, you give up your earlier pick. So if you drop 2 players, you only get your second and third round pick. Just wondering if this is common or not? There is some arguments going on if you should lose your earlier pick or later pick. Thanks.

my 2 dynasty leagues also has a 3 round rookie draft, live at a bar. owners can draft 3 rookies and then decide who to drop once I set rosters

We go into the rookie draft with full rosters. Everyone gets all their picks.

We have to cut down to roster limits 1 week before season starts.

Your way is okay too, but you should really lose your last rookie pick not your first for not dropping 3 players.

Agree, that sounds pretty lame. You should let them just draft and then drop, or worst case lose the later picks if you're going to require them deciding ahead of time and they choose to keep people.Personally, we do unlimited roster size during the offseason but cuts have to be made to get down to the proper size by a certain date near the start of the season.

Rosters of 25, a rookie draft with 48 picks each year.

You can accumulate as many picks as you want via trades and carry the drafted players on a taxi squad until activated.

All players not activated from said taxi squad by the commencement of the next year's NFL draft are automatically placed on waivers.
