Dynasty studs and rookie draft (1 Viewer)

I was wondering what your opinons are regarding retaining established studs v. adding possible future studs in dynasty. I have built a pretty strong squad in my 14-team PPR dynasty league. My team includes players such as McFadden, Bradshaw, Green-Ellis, Nicks, Marshall, Sidney Rice, Jacoby Ford & Gates. Part of the problem is, however, I've have had some of these players for 2-3 years now and their salaries are getting higher due to performance-based salary increases. Due to their salaries, I do not have a lot of depth. WRs are like gold in this league since we can start up to 5 in this PPR-format (1 RB, 3 WR, and 2 Flex).

I would love to acquire a top 5 pick in the upcoming Rookie Draft in order to add some young, elite talent. Numerous owners have asked me about the availability of either McFadden or Gates. I know it sounds insane to trade McFadden right now, but he has never shown to be durable and he could probably net me a top rookie and another solid player if not more. On the other hand, Gates is aging and has been prone to injury. Is a top 3-5 rookie worth unloading a stud? At what point should a dynasty owner start to unload high-salaried studs for younger talent and depth? Should I be proactive or ride the players I have until the wheels fall off?
