Yeah.  Their stock is near all-time highs; definitely a sign the ship in sinking.
  they are 17% away from their all-time high and the stock hasn’t moved much in years.

Sure it’s not going under but it’s not the first-choice for most consumers.

I just sold something on ebay for the first time in years. The listing+sale+paypal fees are crazy. I had been boycotting it due to ebay letting a guy scam me. Boycott is back on. I'd rather deal with random craigslist people.

I still use it for buying and selling. Not that often, but a few times a year. For collectibles like vinyl, comics, and rock poster art you get a bit more selling than if you go onto dedicated sites like Discogs, and espressobeans. The increase is generally enough to cover the outrageous fees.

Disagreee: I purchased something on the site, got something else. Found out the seller changed the listing after shipping to match the lesser item. Filed a complaint with Ebay that I didn't get the item I bought. Ebay took 20 seconds to review the "case", shipper provided proof of package delivery with the comment "if he wanted something else he should have paid more", and ebay ruled for the seller with "Package was delivered, so there's no complaint".

F 'em.
I thought the listings were locked once its been sold. did you contact paypal?

I had a similar issue 20 years ago -- I purchased a CD-Recorder and the seller sent me a single blank CD. :lmao:

He had changed the item description just slightly enough to convince the flunkies at eBay that he wasn't trying to scam anyone (despite the fact that his Buy-It-Now price of $99 was obviously not intended to reference a single CD-R). But the losers at eBay took his side and refused to issue a refund.

This was before the days of PayPal, so I had paid for the item with a money order. Luckily I had used a money order issued by the Post Office, which allowed me to generate a mail fraud investigation. It turns out that the seller was some punk teenager using his parents' account, so nobody got arrested. But I hope the kid got a "scared straight" moment when the postal inspectors knocked on his parents' door. His account was deleted not long afterwards.

Facebook market is where it’s at. No fees and I’ve sold everything within days. It’s awesome.
I'm not a facebook person. I look at my acct less than monthly. But I think I will let my kid help me sell the rock collection. Compare it to Ebay.

And this was a reputable seller (high rating with a lot of them)?

eBay is still the best for numismatics IMO.

Just ran through 2019 and I've spent about 5 grand on eBay. The state tax is a killer though.

My wife and I have been selling random stuff on there and having a good experience overall.  We've discovered a couple of thrift stores in the area where we can find great deals on things we then sell for a little extra cash.  You know - things like a calculator for a few bucks that I can easily sell for 45 or 50.  (Okay, not everything is that good a deal and/or that easy to sell, but you get the picture). It's a decent hobby, seeing as my wife likes to spend time shopping anyway.  Now instead of shopping for things she doesn't really need for herself, she satisfies the urge by shopping for things to sell.  Of course, it might be moving towards too much of an obsession for her, but we'll see.

I know eBay is taking a hefty cut and all, but once you've gotten in the swing of things, they do make things pretty easy.

Amazon murdered them.  i guess Ebay may still have some appeal to collectors.  Any mainstream product is amazon's territory
