Ed Schultz (1 Viewer)

What is the deal with Ed Schultz? I only hear him on MSNBC on Sirius, haven't seen him, but he's a left wing carbon copy of Rush Limbaugh, no? The guy uses the same inflections, pauses, and psychological tricks (can't think of a better description) to rile up listeners.

Does anyone in the FFA take him seriously?

He must have seen Rush's success and tried to copy it for a different group of listeners, right?

Because the guy is on an island as far as broadcasting style. He (and maybe Randi Rhodes?) is the only one on the left who does Rush/Beck/O'Reilly/Savage/Coulter shtick.

I thought the Peanuts were pretty ahead of their time. Sure, it doesn't stand up to South Park or Family Guy, but beats the hell out of Bil Keane.

No. Really Maddow is the only night time host I like on MSNBC now.
Same here, though I I am okay with Matthews. She is much further to the left than I, but I like her delivery and she doesn't automatically bash someone just because they are on"the other side" as badly as Schultz and O'Donnell. And I still an't believe Sharpton has a show.

Schultz pondered a run as a Republican for the U.S. House of Representatives against Democratic Rep. Earl Pomeroy in 1994, but decided against it after visiting with state Republican leaders.

Looks like Schultz was on the right early in his career. Also, I was surprised to see that he was a pretty good college football player.

I wasn't really counting Matthews. Hardball is a good show most of the time.

Chris Matthews is generally pretty good.

My guess is that Maddow would be better if she could do a show once a week or so. Thanks to the five-nights-a-week format, she ends up forced to fill her program with crap from the blogosphere that she probably doesn't take that seriously. Or at least I think she's likely bright enough that she doesn't take it that seriously.

This thing that Schultz does (and many right wing hosts do) of playing a clip and stopping it after every 3rd word to say - "HAHAHA (pause) I'm trying to keep it together here (pause) FOLKS YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP"

...that should be banned. Let's get the FCC up in there.

Olbermann, O'Donnell, Mike Malloy
No. I don't think you are catching what style I mean. Light on the substance, heavy on the emotional manipulation of listeners/viewers.

And she makes cocktails on-air on Friday nights. :)

Say you're jivin', Ivan.
Matthews is one of the most respected talking heads in the business.
Let's not go overboard here.
Yeah...CM has some of the more cringe-worthy quotes of the last few years.

I have family who have spent a little time with Schultz and a guy in my league does too. They obviously like him personally and tell me his views are genuine. I have no idea how he treats staff; and that's usually the tell-tale for me.

On the show(s):

Schultz noticed no one in the media was talking directly to union-members and, very smartly, carved himself a niche there. I agree with less than 1% of what he has to say...but I give him a ton of credit for recognizing that supply/demand gap and going after it.

Funny how money tends to swing things here.

Ed Schultz joins Russia Today, which is pretty much the leading antidemocratic voice in world news today.

Basically a propaganda machine, sad, the man is a total sellout.
Just saw the promo and got a good laugh from it.Fitting he would land on air with this bunch though, maybe he can team up with Jessie Ventura and Oliver Stone's kids now and really show us how it's done!I actually did like Abbey Martin and her Breaking The Set show but she moved on to do solo stuff so they tossed these two clowns in to try and fill some time. Now with Schultz they have the trifecta on stupidity locked down.

Surprised anybody took him seriously on MSNBC and now even more so on RT.
