Eight Sleep? (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen Eight Sleep before but I have been looking at some similar options. I am a very hot sleeper and currently cool my house down to 69 at night and have a ceiling fan and regular fan going and I'm still hot. I get my best sleep in the 3 days of winter that we have in Florida.

I sleep best at 65-66 degrees

We once stayed in a hotel room accidentally set at 62 degrees. It was amazing. Almost like hibernating.

I grew up in a house where the only heat we had was from the wood stove. My room was the farthest from it, so I slept in a room that was usually lower 50s in the winter.
My wife is cold no matter what the temperature. In the summer she has two blankets. I have a sheet. I am always hot now. I wish I could convince her to lower the temperature.

Then you really should look at one of these systems. You can have ac and she can have heat.

Bedjet is the system I have been looking at. It's a lot more affordable but I'm not sure it would work as well as the Eight Sleep mentioned above.

Anyone have experience or heard how people like this?

I have the below and I will always have a similar system in the future. It is awesome.

Definitely take that down a few degrees. Sleeping at 69 even with a fan sounds rough. 65 at night guy here.

How does it affect the firmness level of the bed?

No effect.

Thanks. Did you have thoughts on how this compares to other options?

And why do you love it so much?

Seems like I hear a lot of people talking about this now for some reason. Although, truthfully, it's probably mostly just social media algorithms serving me content for that once I googled it. LOL.

Fort Worth TX, so take it when I say "winter" with a grain of salt, but I try not to turn on the heat until it gets down and stays down under 50 for an extended period of time. Indoors it might get down to 60ish at night, but a sunny day will warm it up to the mid 60's. Best sleep ever...........of course sleeping with 3 dogs helps.

8 Sleep is $2500? No thanks. I installed a mini split in the master. $500, 12k btu, 21 seer, easy peezy. Bedroom at 65 and the rest of the house can warm up. My summer electric bill has gone down. It pretty easily paid for itself in one summer. Now on sale for 430 with the coupon, so just ordered one for the garage, which can get over 130 degrees in July and August. They're also nice space heaters in winter when the rest of the house can cool down at night. $aving.

I bought it back in 2022 and it is still working as good as when i bought it. It was one of the cheaper options on the market. I bought the split king for ~600ish, but now see where they have gone up to about 700.

Still the cheapest option out there.

I did not cross shop, it was recommended to me by someone in one of my fantasy football leagues and I just bought it. There may be other options out there, but it seems like the sleep 8 is alot more complicated/expensive.

Thanks. And for why you love it so much, you've found it helps you sleep much better? The Sleep 8 claims it adds an extra hour of sleep for the same time in bed. Did you experience anything like that?

I like it really cold when i sleep, however my wife likes the house quite warm at night. For years she couldn't even sleep in the same bedroom. She slept on the other side of the house with the vents closed, i opened up all the vents in the master bedroom and we both got our way.

However, with the chilipad she is able to keep the room as warm as she wants, and i can crank the temp down to 66 degrees right on the mattress. This way we are both comfortable sleeping together.

Another benefit is our electricity bill has dropped. We keep the house much warmer at night than we used to and the chili pad does not use near the electricity as the central air.

Nothing to do with improving my sleep quality, just making it cheaper/easier/more convenient to get that same sleep quality.

I came up with this idea about five years ago with a simple diy. Offsetting my mattress and platform to make room for my arm. haha
Lots of extra pillows allow for the arm space and head support. Easy enough to extend the footboard. Mine's a bench. It was a life changing sleep hack for a life-long insomniac. I've also had lower back issues for decades but none since doing this. I was so thrilled with it I shared it with tons of people of whom only one tried it. She loves it. We've joked about designing a professional (aesthetically acceptable) kit and marketing it. Still a good idea, but we're too old to follow through. Anyway, now I share it with tons more who won't try it. Maybe try that mattress in the link if you hate your arm positions for side sleeping. :)
