Elementary school replaces Halloween with "Black & Orange" Day (1 Viewer)

I have an orange cat and a black cat and have called them the "Halloween Boys" for years. Wonder if they have been offended this whole time?

I've been saying for a long time that the "trick or treating" part of Halloween should be moved to the last Saturday in October. This way kids have al day to enjoy their costumes, parents can take them out in the daytime when its safe and most parents don't have to rush home on a weekday to take their kids out. Then at night the parents party.

The last few years, a neighbor and I have a fit in a portable fire pit in his driveway, drink and hand out candy while the wives take the little ones around the neighborhood trick or treating.  It has been the best way to celebrate I can think of.

I have scheduled Nov 1 off of work this.  I am fine with this, but I agree that a last Saturday in October would be optimal.

How on earth is "Black" and "Orange" day any more politically correct than Halloween.   :lmao:   The PC police culture has us all upside down.

Nov 1 (All Soul's Day) is a national holiday in many Catholic countries

right...thats the pushback I get. that Halloween itself is a religious holiday—just religious as in Pegan.

I don't want to move the actual day of halloween, Oct 31, just make it like thanksgiving or mothers day where it is celebrated on a day that is better fitting for the way it is is celebrated.

my wife teaches 1st grade at our local elementary school. They just got a new, young principal and she met with him and asked if he could green light costumes on Halloween. After countless years of no costumes, he agreed and they are having a parade and everything. Community support on the FB group was very positive. Lets hope it continues  each year, just feel bad b/c my daughter just leveled out of that school and is now in middle school.
Ultimately this principal will probably realize what a giant pain in the ### allowing costumes is.

High school I totally understand, as with one in college and the other in HS, I'm amazed at some of the attire I saw just on a normal day.  Makes some of the slutty Halloween costumes seem mild.

This is elementary school.  This is the holiday for kids and candy.
Pretty typical. When I was a kid they got rid of Devils Night.

People at work have asked me what I'm doing for Halloween.

Td them I'm putting a sign on my door that says " No candy. Trick or treaters will be shot".

Besides Christmas, Trump has to bring back Halloween.

People has got it backwards.  Freedom is when everyone is allowed to celebrate their own thing.

No events are truely all inclusive.  Even “Human Day” is discriminatory against other creatures on earth.  Do we ban it for showing cruelty to animals?
