espn.com draft order edits (1 Viewer)

Can I edit draft order in a espn.com league? I found the site easy to use in our first year, now hoping it works ok as we transition to year two.

I found where I can define the draft spot for each team, but I need more detail.

Our league goes worst to first for a few rounds before switching to snake format. Also has 3 keepers where you trade a certain round draft pick to keep each player.

Thanks for any advice from someone who has tried to do similar.

I had the same question earlier this week. I called ESPN Fantasy and you are only allowed to set the draft order for the first round (worst to first). As of round 2, it snakes. Unfortunately, this is the only option for online drafts.

Couple options ( i know they arent the best)

In your case where you lose say your third rounder for keeping player X, you could toss all players back (no keepers) and ask the owners to not pick any of the keeper list until its their time to draft at the pick they surrendered. It would be up to the owners to take those players when its their turn. You have the option to pause the draft if someone screws up.

Another option is that you could increase the draft by three rounds, and tell all owners that when they are on the clock for a surrendered pick, they take people that are fantasy insignificant (people that never get drafted). You could shed the players from all squads after the draft and it wont impact the draft.

Both of these create a bit of a heartache for the commish to keep on top of these things as well as trying to field a solid squad.

Your scenario above is a good example of ESPN lacking in the custom area. I have #####ed to ESPN on their defensive scoring for years. They count the points scored for the game as points allowed for defense. Lets say I have the GMen Defense and Eli tosses two INTs that are returned for TDs. My defense wasnt on the field and didnt allow those points, the offense did so technically those shouldnt count against my D. Espn has stated for three years they cant adjust this which I feel is weak.

thanks for the replies, not what i wanted to hear, but good to know. i guess i should give them a call as well to hear what they have to say and add another voice for them to hear regarding needed changes. i shouldn't complain about a free site, but you'd think the worldwide leader could have a better fantasy site.

It is silly for them to not offer that option, but I think it's a pretty great free site. We have used it for a while, and this is the first time we are using live online draft. Anyone have any problems with it?

No, last year was the first time we did an online draft instead of the live, in-person draft. The draft moved fairly quickly, and it is nice that the system updates who is taken so you don't have to spend half of your time marking off who isn't available anymore

Nice. was just playing around in a mock draft, and stumbled into an auction, which seemed very smooth. Their live draft rooms are great actually.

In year one, I thought their online draft was easy to setup from a commish perspective, and very easy to use during the draft. Sounds like they've got that figured out, now they need to work on customization.

What I've done in the past is go in as commish and trade picks from team to team. That tends to work fine.

Interesting work-arounds. Glad to hear there are some options. Kyle, when you mention pausing the draft, can a commish fix something at that moment?
