Ethical trade question (1 Viewer)

here's the situation:

i trade player A and B for player C

the other team has to drop a player. after the deal is made, i ask who he will drop. he said player D. i say, let's just make a 2 for 2 deal then. he trades me player D for nobody (instead of reversing the original deal and re-doing a 2 for 2 deal)

the league protests the 2nd trade and I have to drop player D to waiver. was i being unreasonable? thanks.

Yes. After the deal is consummated, it is over. For you to come back and say, give me the player you will drop as a frreebie was rightly protested by the other teams.

THINK before you pull the trigger on a trade. Afterthoughts are irrelevant.

i get that but if i said ok, void the 2nd trade and then reverse the 1st trade and re-did it with a 2 for 2 - would that be ok?

You need to ask your league if that's OK. If it's truly a marginal throw-in type player why are they (or you) worried about it?

nope no good here either, would you allow other owners to redo trades? why don't you just take the scrap player for a very low pick or something.

Im not worried about it, I picked up a player off the WW who is pretty much the same value in my eyes. Not sure why they care.I didn't realize it wouldn't be OK, there's nothing in the rules about it. That's why I asked, it's an interesting situation to me.

Once you reported the first trade, it was done. The other one as a gimme is not a trade and shouldn't be allowed. If instead all this happened before the trade was reported it wouldn't have mattered.

that trade was a D.A.D. after it was made.. if you want the other player you would have to give something up for him

I would have said that the player you got in the first deal didn't pass the physical and then asked for the additional player as compensation for keeping them.

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! Better yet just say the first trade had a player to be named and that the guy going to waivers was the player to be named.
