Ethics regarding losers bracket (1 Viewer)

My league has a losers bracket for all the non-playoff teams. The winner of the bracket gets the #1 pick and all other draft picks are based on record for non-playoff teams. The team that owns the pick gets to set the lineup for that team (so if Team B owns the draft pick for Team A, team B gets to set team A's lineup). I own two first rounders of non-playoff teams. My own (6th worst record) and Team B (2nd worst record). It looks like these two teams will end up playing each other in the finals. So if my team wins, I get the #1 and #3 picks. If Team B wins, I get the #1 and #6 picks. I'm not going to do this but it's tempting to start all Team B's worst players against my best players. Anyone ever face a similar situation?

OK proofreading would have been a good idea since I wasn't really clear. Basically we have a losers bracket for who gets the #1 pick next year in my dynasty... The finals will be Team A (2nd worst team) vs. Team B (6th worst team). If Team A wins, he will get the #1 pick and Team B will get the #6 pick. If Team B wins, he will get the #1 pick and team A will get the #3 pick. Since I own both picks, I get to set the lineup for both teams and can manipulate the outcome so I basically get #3 instead of #6.

Do what's best for your team, especially if there's no other reprocussions like $ at stake.You traded for the picks and you want them to be as best as possible.Barring no rules against tanking (which is what a toilet bowl is intended for) I don't see much of an issue for this. You're playing to improve your team at their expense. Go for it.

Ethical = No.

logical = Yes.

I kinda understand....basically the way the looser bracket is structured, some other teams loosing will give them higher draft positions.

you can benefit b/c you own their picks in 2009. B/c of your league rules, as the recipient of certain team's draft pick in 09, you get to set their line up in these games.

the rule is set up to fail based on its structure. you alomst HAVE to tank the game, but then whats the point of playing them then to begin with?

are you tight w/ these guys...if yes...play the best line-up. otherwise, i see no reason for you NOT to tank the games.

the rule needs to be changed however. either a weighted lottery for that #1 pick or do a total best score over the length of this bracket period to determine the winner of #1.

I fail to see what's unethical.

You are playing both sides and one outcome gives you more than the other. You set the lineups to try and make that happen.

As long as you set lineups, I don't see an issue. Some would even say not to have a lineup at all for one side. (That's much weaker.)
