Ever See a Walkoff Reverse Natural Cycle? (1 Viewer)

Today Kyle Russel (RF, University of Texas) hit for a "walkoff reverse natural cycle".

He put Texas up 2-0 in the first with his 24th homer of the year. This makes three straight games in which he's hit a 2-run, opposite field dinger in the 1st inning. He's a lefty with power all over.

He had an RBI triple in the fifth, an RBI double in the sixth, and an RBI single in the seventh which ended the game, as it put Texas up 11-1.

He was 4-5 with 5 RBI on the day.

Hi Scotsman,

I'm the resident college baseball expert and UT homer around here. Please leave this kind of thing up to me. TIA for your compliance.

walkoff reverse natural cycle. WTMF is that?Sounds like the Chewbacca defense.
"Walkoff": Because the single that completed the cycle was also the hit that ended the game...a "walkoff" hit is usually a game-winner, but was not so in this case. This one just put the run-rule into effect, so I guess it was sort of a game-winner."Reverse Natural Cycle": A "cycle" is when a player hits a single, double, triple, and a homer in the same game in any order. A "natural" cycle is when a player hit for the cycle in order...1b, 2b, 3b, hr. A "reverse" natural cycle is when a player hits for the cycle in exact reverse order...hr, 3b, 2b, 1b, which is what Russell did.

The Horns look pretty good this year. I've got a lot more hope for a national title than I did last season. It's pretty strange to actually feel comfortable with Randy Boone on the mound, which is something I never thought I'd say.

In closing, what are the odds that the Horns end up with their second national player of the year that leaves college early to pursue pro dreams in the same season?

Yeah, but he still gives me the heebie jeebies, and while Krebs has looked a little better of late, the Sunday starter spot is a worry, esp come tourney time. That said, this is the best offensive team I've seen at the Disch in close to 30 years attending Texas games there, and I couldn't be happier with J. Russell and Alaniz in the 1st two starter spots. They're as good as they come.

I'd say very good.

I'm hoping that Boone may have made the J Brent Cox transformation. I used to get nervous as #### every time Cox was coming into the game. I think their rotation is deeper than last year with Alaniz, Russell, Wood & Krebs.

Nice sweep against OSU this weekend. I wish that Holliday was still the pitching coach and not toiling away in Stillwater.
