What are you seeing that those other owners are missing? The price is probably right. He adds depth and many owners are probably ready to give up on him.
Did he step into a time machine circa 2005?The price is probably right. He adds depth and many owners are probably ready to give up on him.
He did have nearly 1400 yards last year, and is YOUNGER than Reggie Wayne.Did he step into a time machine circa 2005?The price is probably right. He adds depth and many owners are probably ready to give up on him.
too late. i already downgraded all Panthers. one pro-tip a day please. tia
Yeah, but Reggie has Andrew Luck throwing him the rock. If Andrew wanted to come out a year earlier, then Steve Smith would have had Andrew throwing him the rock, and then Steve could be like Reggie. Instead, Andrew stayed at Stanford another year, and Steve has Cam. Instead Steve had 1400 and 7 TD's with Cam last year. That is terrible!Yeah, but Reggie has Andrew Luck throwing him the rock. I'm sure you're just giving the guy some typical Shark Pool ####, but anyone who has even glimpsed a Carolina game this year will tell you that this is a completely different offense than what led to Smith's strong numbers last year. Not only do they put an enormous priority on running, but they're doing it in a system that allows the defense to tee off on them even more.Instead Steve had 1400 and 7 TD's with Cam last year. Two total targets, both in the 4th quarter of week 1.I'm hoping he can connect with Cam for a few long TD passes after the bye. Does anyone have redzone target numbers for Smith thru 5 weeks?
Yikes, didn't realize it was so few. Hard to score TDs when you aren't targeted. Seems like Olsen has been the only red zone threat. Two total targets, both in the 4th quarter of week 1.I'm hoping he can connect with Cam for a few long TD passes after the bye. Yeah looking that up and seeing the confirmation made me even more queasy that I have him on multiple teams.Yikes, didn't realize it was so few. Hard to score TDs when you aren't targeted. Unless they can't run the ball and Cam just starts chucking it deep.loss of kalil means less time for these deeps bombs from cam = low value for mr. steve
in which case expect more stat lines like last weeks 4 for 40 on 13 targetsUnless they can't run the ball and Cam just starts chucking it deep.loss of kalil means less time for these deeps bombs from cam = low value for mr. steve
Those stats are boosted heavily by that strong first game. The second game his yardage looked nice but he had 3 catches on 4 targets, a 35 yarder and a 66 yarder included among them. I'm not playing the "take those away and..." game but this entire offense looks horrible so people shouldn't play the extrapolating game either.Don't get me wrong, if you can get him from a pissed off owner who is throwing in the towel, feel free. But I don't think you can expect more than WR3 production the remainder of the way, especially if you're playing PPR.He's averaging 77 yards per game which puts him on pace for 1,241 yards on the season. That defense is still awful and by eye-balling the schedule it looks like he could be productive.
He's an older player and people are always looking for the young new stud. See if you can pry him off someone for cheap.
Agree. Smith needs to play the slot and be used like Welker in NE. This will help Cam's confidence and sustain drives, and it plays to Smith's strengths. They are completely out of sync.Cam is wildly erratic. Steve Smith is still the same guy who can make the amazing catches and turn a quick hitter into an 80 yard touchdown. It seems like teams are challenging Cam to make the 20 yard plus passes. They need to come up with an intermediate game in order to open up the deep game. The talent is still there. They need to come up with ways to extend plays and have sustained drives. More specifically cam needs to take the five yard plays to someone other than Smith.
If you are to like anyone on this offense, I think it's pretty clear who that should be. His upcoming schedule is up and down..According to Pro Football Focus, Steve Smith's nine forced missed tackles are second only to Percy Harvin's 14 as a receiver this season.
Harvin has four more as a runner. We noted that Smith's legs didn't have quite as much juice following an early-season knee injury, but he looked much more spry versus the Seahawks. It was Smith's first game with double digit targets since the opener, and he just missed several plays that would have turned his box score around. We like him as a "buy low" entering the bye week.
