Expecting Twins (1 Viewer)

Congrats man.
Thanks! We just found out on Sunday that we're having A BOY & A GIRL :excited: Originally I was thinking it'd be cool if they were the same sex because they could be best friends, share the same experiences, etc. But having one of each is going to be so awesome. There's no reason they still can't be best friends and share most of the same experiences. The scared/nervous part of me is now beginning to equal the excited/happy part.

I'm still trying to figure out finances and whether it'll be better for my wife to work part-time or stay at home full-time. If we can get relatives/friends to babysit for free or cheap then I'm sure her working part-time will work out. Funny thing is I'm the one considering her staying at home and she wants to work part-time. We'll see.

Oh, and I wanted to ask you guys about diaper parties. I'd honestly never heard of them until recently. A couple of my buddies said they'd throw one for me. You pretty much invite all of your male relatives and friends to hang out and drink beer as long as they bring a case of diapers. Sounds good to me. One of my friends said a guy he works with had diapers for over a year from the party alone! Obviously ours wouldn't last that long with twins, but every bit helps!
On the bolded, it is tricky. I'm a dad of fraternal twin boys (4.5 yrs old) and am am also a twin myself (fraternal twin brothers). My wife loves being a mom, but also needed a "break" at times... and therefore working part time was definitely the approach that made most sense for her (us). Everyone is different, though, so it might take a while to figure out what works for you guys.

On the broader topic, I think a lot of the suggestions have been spot on. I don't have a ton to add, but if you ever want to bounce a question my way via a post or PM, I'd try to offer my thoughts.

Congrats! Enjoy being a dad to twins!
Thank you! Yeah, I'm thinking her working part-time will be good both from a financial perspective and her own mental health. Her mother said she'll watch them 1 day/week. She also has a couple of friends who are sisters, one doesn't work on Fridays and the other is a bartender. If we can work something out with them that'd be ideal.
