Experiment taking Adrian Peterson 2nd round (1 Viewer)

I wanted to take Adrian Peterson in the 3rd round, but I did not think he would be there at 3.12 (We used a third round reversal this year)

I gambled on him in the 2nd and this is how my draft turned out:

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF

1.03 Gore

2.12 Peterson

3.12 Javon Walker

4.03 Colston

5.12 Vernon Davis

6.03 Brandon Jackson

7.12 Jay Cutler

8.03 Santonio Holmes

9.12 Roethisberger

10.03 Turner

11.12 Vikings D

12.03 Brandon Jones

13.12 Michael Robinson

14.03 Matt Stover

15.12 Craig Davis

16.03 Adrian Peterson (Chi)

I think you have a solid core of starters, week in, week out. Can you post the first five rounds of your draft? I'd be curious to see what kind of value was given up for Peterson in the second, and what kind of runs were happening/who was hanging around in the fourth and fifth rounds when you nabbed Colston and Vernon Davis.

TIA

The commisioner hasn't posted the draft results yet because it was a live draft.

There wasn't even much left for RB's at 2.12, there was a massive run in the first and 2nd rounds.

There was a mini TE run in the late 4th and early 5th, making me want to jump on davis in the 5th round at 5.12

I will post the draft results when they are posted to our site, hopefully today

Thx -- there is certain to be more of an RB-heavy focus in the early rounds of a 14-team league, as everyone needs a viable starter -- I'd be interested to see where certain WRs and QBs were going in the 2nd and third, and where other QBs and TEs were going in the fourth and fifth for this very reason.Depending on draft position, and relative value of players that slide to that poistion, I'm thinking it might be good to nab a top 3 guy at RB, WR, QB and even TE through the first four or five rounds of the draft if it means letting some similarly ranked RBs slide by. That is, it may be better to end up with a RB core of Steven Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, and Ahman Green if it means also being able to nab Reggie Wayne, Palmer/Brady, and Gates, which is feasible drafting from the 2-spot in a 14 team league (although I'd highly doubt Gates would slip that far in a 14 team draft, it might be a possiblility if other GMs are going particularly RB crazy, and you can start a QB run in the third).

You got Peterson as the 26th player off the board? I'd say there was "just enough" left when your turn came up in round 2.

Ocho Cinco was just the 2nd WR off the board at pick 2.09. So no there wasn't much left at RB.

Peterson

Deuce

Marion Barber

Cadillac

Norwood

Thomas Jones

I'll take my chances with Peterson. You also forget I did not pick again until 3.12, and there surely wouldn't be another back worth taking then

Uh...I was commending your pick of Peterson.
I took Peterson at 03.04 in my 12 teamer. Took Steve Smith as the first WR off the board at 2.09 hoping that Portis or Benson would fall to me 6 picks later but both went directly after I took Smith so I grabbed ADP there. Probably a reach but I have him paired with LJ and have Ahman Green as well.

I like the Jackson RB pick, he could be a force this year, MN homer here, I like AP, I just hope he doesn't get injured, but you can say that about any player. I do think AP will get 65/70 % of the RB touches as the season goes on, so he could be big, as MN will run the ball a lot this year.

Let's hope you are right.

I've really only started warming up to the idea of selecting A-Pete within the last few weeks. His spin move performance against the Jets, coupled with the building hype and decrease in carries of Chester Taylor; and finally the signs of life that T Jackson is starting to show.

Funny how one highlight can move a guy from the 4th/5th round to the 2nd/3rd round range
