FAAB vs. waivers (1 Viewer)

Looks like my league is using FAAB on Sportsline for add/drops, $100 budget.

Anybody out there vouch for this insead of just regular waivers? Also, any tips, i.e. spending big and early on that one overlooked guy who emerges Wk. 1 in hopes of getting an '03 Boldin vs. saving your money for Oct/Nov?

FAAB is a MUCH better system than waivers

Fairer to all teams and introduces the extra strategy of how much to spend and when.

As far as bidding, theoretically the earlier in the season you could add a starter (usually a RB that came out of nowhere) the more valuable they would be. BUT ask the people that spent a ton on Quentin Griffin a few years ago and only got a couple of weeks of production from him before he lost his job.

It's somewhat a guessing game and you want to have money throughout the season to make other roster moves, so how much do you need that player (position)? and what is the perceived value by the rest of your league?

FAAB is the fairest way of all the free agent transaction methods but I don't particularly like the way Sportsline handles it.

Roadkill– can you elaborate what Sportsline does wrong in handling FAAB? Seems like whatever site you used would set it up the same way?

If I was reading the help section correctly, ties are broken in an odd fashion: it seems that the most recent guy to have won a player loses the tiebreaker. Also, I didn't see where the FAAB could be increased (maybe it's only our league that does this) or where contingency bids could be made. Now these aren't big deals and may be perfect for most leagues but they're a little awkward for handling the way my league does things.I say go for it. It's still the best way to do free agents.
