Facebook quirk...."SEEN" stamp (1 Viewer)

On two occassions now I left facebook open in a secure area and left my computer for a short time. My wife continued to message me thinking I was there but kept seeing SEEN stamps on the messages she sent, making her think that I was still there reading the messages but in fact I was nowhere near the computer.

Other than the obvious of being broken into either computer or physically, would a mouse-over/hover script/java issue cause this if my mouse was in a certain spot on the FB chat window? We are completely shuked?

I know I will get some schtick answers on here, but also would like to find out if this has happened to anyone else with legitimate reasons.

Your computer isn't detecting your presence dude. If the message is delivered to an open messenger window, it's marked as "seen"

Wife is fine...except for the notion that someone could be seeing our conversations if in fact someone is hacking in, in which case I would be very upset as well. Just trying to see if there is a logical "computer-related" reason to this.

There is a computer related reason.. The message was delivered to an open browser.

Facebook messenger isn't configured to know if you are actually in front of your computer looking at that open browser, So when it displays the message its marked seen.

Facebook Messenger doesn't use end to end encryption, so someone can read your chats.

HOW CAN THEY ADVERTISE A "SEEN" FEATURE IF THEY CANT TELL IF IVE ACTUALLY SEEN IT OR NOT?
