Except that the word seems to be that every single other agent in that meeting contradicts the agent that sent a text to Schefter. Even De Smith said that reports were inaccurate. Other agents have now come out and said that De Smith didn't even talk about the mediation sessions since it would violate the agreement the league and NFLPA made. In fact, one agent even said that the entire meeting was "chaotic" because all of the agents are panicking. Why are they panicking? Because a rookie wage scale (which both the league and union seem to be ok with in some form) will change the agent model. Since players would have slotted contracts, what's the point of hiring an agent whose specialty is supposed to be getting huge rookie contracts? Wouldn't surprise me at all if the text to Schefter came from an agent at CAA since they're the ones that get the largest number of high first round picks. Those guys have to be freaking out in general. And if an agreement ISN'T struck and the whole negotiation is sabotaged, then maybe whatever results eventually from it won't even have a draft (which would benefit them even MORE). Pure speculation on my part of course.
