Favorite draft position this year? (1 Viewer)

With everyone's drafts either coming up or underway what are people thinking as far as draft position? There are definite obvious tiers at RB but getting a top guy means low picks in Rounds 2 and 3. Do you want a middle Round 1 guy like Gore and middle picks each round? Do you want a mid/late 1st perhaps to get the stud WR and then the 2nd/3rd tier RB's and/or go against the grain and power up WR/QB?

I would take the 12 spot and work my way back from there. I don't see any difference in talent from say the 7 pick to around the mid 2nd round really.

I have 4 drafts coming up so I'll be researching over the next few days. Quickly updating the lineup dominator shows a huge drop after the top 3, then 2 RB's each in their own tier. After that we're down to SJax and the other RB's vs considering QB/WR. Mocking out picking 4th you get a top 4 RB hard to say which then your choice of QB1, WR4, TE1, or RB18. I feel great about WR in Round 2 ... went QB3 in Round 3 and think that's a bad move so went back and reached per the LD for another WR over it's recommondation for QB. Just like earlier I'm not a fan of the value at RB and risk having nothing behind my stud and again go WR seeing TE too early and QB not a big enough value. For Round 5 TE stands out as value so I've got RB, WR, WR, WR, TE.

Now in Round 6 QB is around QB10 ... getting scary but again the dropoff is small but what if a team takes a 2nd QB? There's still not a huge drop at RB although certainly dropped from Round 2 just not a value still. Going to be hard to take RB's this year. In this league we can start 4WR and 2RB or 3/3 (or 2 TE) so I'm actually going WR again. Time to take QB/RB for awhile. Not an exact science but I love this tool. My team is #1 in initial strength at 2160 next guy at 2111. For the record, the LD placed power rankings of the top 5 teams as the top 5 then the last 3 then the middle teams worst. Obviously real people will draft better but first run suggests you want top 5.

I never care where my draft position is.
I've got a few leagues where you pick your draft spot ... reverse order of finish gets choice in one and random generator creates decision order in a 2nd. Just one more thing to have to decide that could be huge before you even draft!

Ran the LD without picking my own spot with similar results ... pick 4 actually pulled a 2171 strength for #1 with the top 5 spots all again top 5. The teams that went AJ/Fitz are dead last in strength. IMO this might be an issue with the strength calculator or it may be an indication that by projection you REALLY want a stud RB this year plus a high 4th more than a late 1st and early 2nd and 3rd given the talent spread. I'll run more scenarios later this week and maybe try to do some research with a focus on the playoff weeks.

".....assuming 3RR" ? why not just say you are trying to figure out your KDS for the NFFC?

In twelve team leagues with PPR this year, it is the middle of the draft that are the worse spots to draft from, so I think the ranking would be

1-5

6

12-7

I think 3RR makes the back end of round one more valuable but there is still value in having one of the five bell cow RB

5 looks like the sweet spot to me this year
Care to elaborate?I figured 4 would be the spot in that you get the last of the best 4 RBs (CP, AP, Rice, MJD) and then beat those guys back for a WR in the 2nd. 5th it seems you be looking at a drop off in RB tier. You could take AJ there, but then have less to look at in terms of RB in round 2. Just a thought.

I think Gore belongs in that group, and you get to steal value picks from the people who got the top 4 in the even numbered rounds. Even #6 isn't bad with Turner, who should be good for 1500/15

I like 4 best because Gore makes me nervous. Not a ton of great reasons... just a feeling with some inputs...he has put on some miles...not too much, but enough to wear on his body a bit + Gore's typical annual injury/miss a game or two. Like I said, not much, but enough to seperate the top 4 for me. If I'm at 4 (and I am in my main PPR redraft league ) or 5, I am very happy with either, but would prefer 4.

Good stuff so far ... that's why we are saying top 5 ... gotta put the tier drop and decision to take a non RB *after* Gore. I'll play around with 9/10 tomorrow. I haven't been able to make 11/12 work so far where I like the team I end up with despite the 3RR.

Interested in this as I am considering trading in to the 10 spot from 5 because Turner, CJ3, and Rice are already kept (Turner by me) and I just don't like SJ there (gut). Figure I can get a top 3 QB and a Fitz or Moss at 10/11.
