Listening right now on sirius online....this is sad. Wish he'd have played another year.

I also wish he'd stop crying.

 
Reitterating that it was not about Moss...not about Thompson and McCarthy not doing enough...he was done.

And pretty much squashed the thought of him coming back...says he just cannot do the rest or the grind.

 
It's gotta be hard to hang 'em up after nearly 2 decades, especially when he still has the ability to give it another go.

I'm watching it on ESPN News........and it looks like he's squashed the sobbing.

You're not missing much.......the important stuff is done. Now it's just the reporters asking the same question, just worded different.

I'm gonna miss the 'ol grey headed fart on Sundays.

 
He just squashed any thoughts of him returning to football as a coach. I guess he's just walking away from the game.

A coin toss here and there, but that's about it. It sounds as if he's going to ride off into the sunset.

 
I think my girlfriend -- who doesn't watch much football -- unintentionally summed up the later Favre years well. When she happened to be with me watching a Packers game, the camera showed Favre on the sideline and she asked:

"Why is the coach wearing a uniform?"

That's when you know it's time to hang it up.

Will certainly miss him though.

 
He's a southern boy who wants to hang out with his family. Good for him. Screw the last pass....that last season was incredible. Kudos to Brett. he's going out at a very highpoint.

He's also composed and has stopped crying, which is nice.

 
Love the "I guess this is what its like to be dead" line.

It does seem like that as much attention as it has gotten and how people have talked.

Also when asked what he would do..pulled the office space "nothing".

Just wished he would have joked and said "two chicks at the same time man".

 
I'm waiting for one of the reporters to ask Brett if that's really him on Kenny Mayne's segment running thru Green Bay naked (ESPN).

Maybe that would lighten the mood in the press room. :) It would be pretty funny.

 
Again...when asked if there is anything TT or McCarthy could have done to keep him around another year...he easily answered NO.

That there were alot of things said in the media that just were not true.

Maybe you need a new girlfriend. My wife does not show my love for football but she does like Favre.......because he's real.
 
That right there just summed up Brett Favre and his human side.......

"I thought about wearing a suit today, I thought about shaving...........but that's not me". Vintage Brett. That's why alot of NFL fans love him whether he's a Green Bay Packer or not.

How can you not like this guy? I understand rooting for your own team and not wanting him to succeed on the field at times, but he is really a classic guy. This is what Brady doesn't have.
 
Wow that was tough to watch. I don't feel bad admitting my eyes got wet a couple times early in that presser. We'll miss him and we wish him well in the next phase of his life. He gave us so much and we have so many memories to live in. Thanks for everything #4.. :hifive:

Didn't say she likes him or not likes him, just that he's so old he looks more like a coach than a player. :hot:
 
Being a life long Vikings fan, I have to admit I rooted for Favre when he wasn't playing against the Vikes.

He has heart, and is a blue collar guy who loved to play football.

I think he'll be around the game in some manner in the near future, whether it be as a coach of some sort or in the booth on TV somewhere.

Crying doesn't make him any less of a man, he just gave up something he loved to do for Christ sakes.

Favre has a lot of class and I'll miss watching him play the game.
