Favre Officially Files Retirement Papers
Brett Favre has officially filed his retirement papers with the NFL, likely ending his 20-year record-setting career. The news was first reported by Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.
Favre, originally drafted by the Falcons in 1991, played most of his career with the Packers (1992-2007) before going to the Jets (in 2008) and Vikings (2009-10) during his last three seasons. He won a Super Bowl in Green Bay following the 1996 season and was named Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers of America MVP twice. His name can be found in the NFL record book several times, as he is ranked first all-time in passing yards (71,838), attempts (10,169), completions (6,300), touchdowns (508) and interceptions (336); his consecutive starts streak was snapped on Dec. 13 after 297 games.
