FBG Loserpalooza League - Suck Scoring (1 Viewer)

Since most real league drafts are finished, I'm going to make one last run at filling a fun league where the object is to build the worst team possible. Proposed roster sizes have been cut in half since the original post in February.

1 - C

1 - CI

1 - MI

2 - OF

1 - UT

4 - P

2 - BN

1 - DL

Max IP = 600

Scoring rules remain unchanged (see post #2)

Think of it more as a season long pool for bad baseball than a normal fantasy league.

Maybe I'm prejudiced by being a Giants fan, but there is no shortage of bad players in MLB. With these small roster sizes, we could submit one pick/day here and be done in two weeks. I suspect there will be a lot of opportunity for player moves during the season which further diminishes the impact of getting sniped in the draft.

I tried to set up the scoring system to balance pitching and hitting. Bad/good performers will score about 200 pts. season. Full time bad players are generally rewarded but the negative points categories add an element of risk. A cheap W can wipe out an otherwise poor outing by a pitcher.Unfortunately, Yahoo can't handle lowball rotisserie.

Example of pitcher scoring

2007 Baltimore Orioles

Cabrera 177

Bedard -490

Guthrie -56

Trachsel 254

Olson 80

Loewen -3

Ray -59

Walker -28

Bradford 60

Baez 153

Daniel Cabrera led the AL in walks and losses, but his high strikeouts offset some of his value. Danys Baez proves you don't need to be a starter to contribute in this format.

Cool...I'll probably jump in tomorrow.

At first, I thought you somehow figured out lowest points wins....but now I see the object is still to score the most points, just with this system.

Yeah, high score wins. Hitters are rewarded for making outs and playing time, with penalties for HR and hits. Pitchers score by losing games and giving up hits, walks and runs, with penalties for Ks and a huge one for Ws.

We need more than 3 people to join. Yahoo allows up to four baseball teams per user name in caes you think you're at your limit with three (I think that used to be the max).

This could be fun... we tried this with football a couple years ago.. the draft is great. I imagine in baseball you really gotta know your ####

Yeah, this could be a really fun draft and transaction crazy league. Without spotlighting anyone, there would be a ton of guys drafted who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a real fantasy baseball roster.I thought there would be more interest around here but maybe the idea is a little too off the wall. I'll keep pimping the thread for a few more days and see if it generates any more interest. Maybe reducing the roster size might make it easier for people to commit.

Bumped for opening day in case anyone is having draft withdrawal. You can start with the names remaining on your cheatsheet.

With a scoring system like this, it isn't important that we have a full year of stats.

Using the Uber Supplemental as a mock for this league was NOT cool.

The IHSV OF would contend in this format

I'd be interested... my regular Yahoo ID is full but maybe I could use the Team BZ Uber ID to squeeze another team in.
