FBG NASCAR 2012 (1 Viewer)

Ok, was supposed to be on Fox yesterday so makes sense. When I looked up listings got a bunch of stuff that came up for Daytona 500 on the Speed channel (which is a pay-channel).
Just looked at 5 different articles indicating Fox is carrying it

I'm not into NASCAR at all, and I really don't want to #### on your thread but I have to ask a question...

I saw drivers saying this is a tough situation because they have to stay mentally ready. Really? Is that just bull#### because there's nothing else to talk about while they are waiting? I didn't think the performance of NASCAR drivers was affected by state of mind as much as say, golfers.

I would say more so. There is very little room for error when you are 4 wide bumper-to-bumper while doing near 200mph. Your life and your fellow driver's lives could be at stake.

Totally agree. There isn't time to walk 3 or 4 minutes to your next shot and think about what you're going to do. In racing you have a fraction of a second to decide what you're going to do and if you decide wrong there can be grave consequences. Losing the race might be the least of your problems.Maybe that's a little overdramatic, but the point stands.

Hey Dale - Danica was not the first one to ever let go of the wheel - check older crash footage - dummy

Well it's that or hold onto the steering wheel and wait for your wrists to snap in two. That steering wheel was going where it wanted to go.

Oh I agree completely. Waltrip was making a big deal how they all learned from Danica. NO THEY DIDN'T they always let go just keep their hands close to the wheel...Sorry - DW is a great guy but sometimes he just irks me

I'm really liking Monday Night Racing.

I think NASCAR needs to embrace this like once a month until football season starts.

Maybe try to work in the smaller tracks or shorter races...?

Very smart to let go! First time I ever saw a driver/or noticed a driver letting go of the steering wheel was when Danica wrecked and Fox showed the coverage from inside her car.

I remember hearing about letting go of the wheel and taking foot off brake just before hitting the wall front first. In the 70's. Broken ankles and legs happen when you keep your foot on the brake.

DAYTONA

The 2.5-mile trioval runs 40 feet wide with 12 to 30-foot apron turns.

In the turns, the banking is 31 degrees.

Pit Road is 1,600 feet long, 50 feet wide.

Garage area includes seven garages with 82 stalls (spaces for 164 cars).

The track's Road Course is 3.56 miles (incorporates trioval superspeedway and non-banked infield section).

The infield course and chicane range from 30 to 50 feet wide. Of the 480 total acres for the speedway facility, 180 make up the infield include 44-acre Lake Lloyd.

The largest field to ever start the race was an incredible 68 cars back in 1960.

Of the 32 NASCAR drivers that have died behind the wheel, 10 of them have been killed while driving at Daytona.

The fastest qualifying speed ever recorded at the track was 210.364 miles per hour by Bill Elliot in 1987.

The driver that wins the Daytona 500 has gone on to win the Winston Cup (or whatever the hell they call their championship now) six times in 46 years. Jeff Gordon (1997) was the last to achieve the feat.

Daytona holds the record for most cars crashing at one time. An astounding 38-car pileup ensued on February 13, 1960 during a pre-500 event.

Ok. I don't have cable. Is there ANYPLACE I can stream this? I am willing to pay for it. Nascar.com just has the trackpass crap that isn't real footage. I am not having any luck. Justin.tv had it but I can't find it now. Any idea of Sopcast has it?

Seeing Mark Martin up front, I would sure love to see him win (not because I picked him, but because I so wanted him to get the win in 2007). Class act.

Loving Monday Night NASCAR. They need to do this more often. I think that early crash calmed a lot of them down because the racing hasn't been that agressive at all.
