FBG trip advice (1 Viewer)

After fbg set me straight and changed my mind about a trip to Bahamas this year my girlfriend and I need to figure out where to go. We are all inclusive type people who enjoy doing excursions and activies. We are looking into the following places.

Costa Rica

Puerto Rica

Jamaica

Does anyone have any recommendations about resorts or places to go. We went to Excellence DR last year based off fbg posts and it was awesome. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

Went to CR a loooooong time ago (last century) for work. What we did non work related was great, food and drinks were wonderful and people were nice. I was mostly in San Jose. Buy rum to bring home!!!

Answer these 4 questions and I will give you my recommendation.

What is your budget?

What type of "excursions/activities" are you interested in?

Does it have to be all-inclusive resort-type place?

On a scale of 1-10, how adventurous are you?

Looking at 3 nights 4 days..so maybe 5k?

Zip lining/site seeing/jet skies/snorkeling/etc

I'm leaning yes on the all inclusive

6-7 between the both of us.

Thanks!

This is admittedly outside of my area of expertise, but I am recommending the following.

Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos

Not a tourist trap like the Bahamas. The water is a crazy color of blue because the water is so clear, the sky is so blue, and the sand is so white. Truly epic snorkeling. Jet ski rentals available. Boat tours where they cook you lunch and serve you cocktails on your own private beach. Hang with the locals at the Thursday Fish Fry where you can get fresh local seafood and hear live music in a festive atmosphere.

ETA - I've never stayed in Jamaica, so no advice there. And I think your trip is too short for Costa Rica or PR because it requires additional travel time to get to the cool places.

Yeah, the Bahamas isn't great for the "all inclusive" type crowd - Nassau isn't the best.  Some of the out islands do it much better, but there wouldn't be "as much to do."  The Bahamas does have lots of great places that aren't "all inclusive", though.

5k on a 4 day trip should be no problem.

Not a ton of AI options in Puerto Rico.

Aruba? Belize if you're looking for something different?

I've gone to Excellence Punta Cana couple of times and enjoyed it.  Also went to Riviera as well...also good.

Wife and I are going somewhere in June for anniversary, but we haven't decided were.  We were looking at Isla Mujares Palace, but it's outside our price range...probably in your budget.

Jamaica is awesome.  I'd recommend Couples Tower Isle outside of Ocho Rios. Awesome food for an AI, private island, and a super vibe.  One of the best places I've ever been.

Antigua has some nice AIs, from what I've heard. I'm not an AI guy... but the island is really nice- beautiful beaches. No idea about excursions. Don't AI people go to Dominican Republic a lot too?
I'll check it out thanks. We went there last year so we want to change it up.

wow.  Those prices are crazy.

My wife and I along with another couple went to Costa Rico 2 years ago or so.  Went on a trip with Costa Rico Rios, highly recommend these people.  They picked us up at the airport, had activities planned each day, fed us each day and kept us entertained.  First day was hiking/repelling down waterfalls with lunch at a local mountain top restaurant.  Next day rafting to a camp with cool huts overlooking the river.  Next day was zip-lining and hanging out on the river and swiming areas.  Next day rafted to next pick up point and then took us to a beach area where we spent the night.  Next day was surfing and then snorkling in the afternoon.  Bus ride back to the bed and breakfast that we stayed at the first night (their home base).  Next day they took us to the top of a volcano and then we mountain biked back to the place we were staying.  The guides were all super cool and had great Stories to tell.  The owners were great also.  Highly recommend, if you want more info let me know.
