FBG Upgrade/Downgrade list? (1 Viewer)

Just read the upgrade/downgrade list. They upgraded both Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai, and even wrote for both, "Start wih confidence."

No mention was made of the possibility of resting either player or, in the case of Addai, more carries being given to Kenton Keith.

I want to believe this; I really do. There has been no better feature for me from FBG than this list; it helped me pick up Ryan Grant off waivers befor anyone else in my league had ever heard of the guy, and that's part of the reason I'm still in this thing in week 16. I hope they're right about this one, too!

I think that both will play until the game is out of hand, if and when that happens. While we think a lot of guys resting b/c of the coming playoffs, part of being a good team is consistency. If Manning and Addai start resting now, they are looking at essentially a month between games. That is not how you win the Super Bowl. They'll play, and the 3 quarters you get out of them (esp. Manning) should be better then the 4 quarters you get out of your backups.

Timmay... you know you're not supposed to post subscriber material in the pool....
My bad. But I'm only repeating one snippet of information, and maybe it will convince people of the vast wealth of news and opinion which those of us that are suscribers receive on a weekly basis...

Straight from the horses mouth. It appears he is placing a high priority on keeping his starters sharp.

Dungy: No break for Colts' starters

Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said Monday he plans to use his players "like we normally would" in Sunday's game against Houston.

The Colts' victory at Oakland on Sunday assured them of the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs no matter what happens in their final two regular-season games, against Houston and Tennessee, both at the RCA Dome.

That raised the question of whether the Colts would rest their starters, but Dungy said the team will try to keep an edge without sustaining more injuries. Indy's first playoff game will be Jan. 12 or 13.

"A month is a long time," Dungy said.

I watched the news conference, and Dungy appeared authentic in his intent to give his healthy starters at least one more week of work, specifically noting that this was a divisional rivalry game and that "you never want to let a rival think that they can beat you" (or words to that effect). I think that the Colts will come out very aggressive against the Texans, try to put the game away as quickly as possible, and then sit Manning, Addai, Wayne, Clark, Sanders and possibly a few others in the second half. If the Texans keep it close, most of that crew (with the possible exception of Addai) will play a full 4 quarters. I think the Texans are plenty capable of keeping this reasonably close, and that fantasy points will abound for both sides.

It's a home game for the Colts against a semi-porous defense that they traditionally burn. It's my judicious belief that you'd be a fool to sit any of your Colts this weekend, and if you're playing against them, woe unto you.

Manning 250+ and 3-4 TDs

Addai 80 combined + 0-1 TDs

Wayne 100 + 1-2 TDs

Gonzalez, Clark and friends should account for another 125+ and 1-2 TDs between them, however I think that Reggie Wayne may have his top performance of the year this week. Think back to what Marvin did against the Bengals in Week 15 last year.

I'm not sure I agree with the start with confidence especially Addai. If they get up early on some defensive or special team scores and throw in a 1-2 TD's by Manning, they "could" be up 28-10 late in the third and pull Addai. Obviously a lot of variables but I would like to "start with confidence" a RB with a high likelihood of playing the whole game.I still may start Addai but have Grant and AD instead to consider. If you have weaker options, start Addai but I am queasy on the confidence.
