FD week 9 (1 Viewer)

Hey guys hope the season is going well, I haven't been around much.

Looking for 1 more in a $10 / 10 person tournament that spans 4 weeks in Nov. FD is going to credit all participants $10 tomorrow. Basically a freeroll and they aren't skimming anything on the payouts.

Hey Bobcat I would join but that link is just opening the iOS App Store on my iPad... Any other Fanduel link?

Ryan Grant is only $4,600, Crowder is out and Pryor still has a bad foot.  Cousins has to throw to somebody besides his tight end duo.  Not a bad cheap filler if you need one.

Came up with this for cash. Has more risk in it than I might like, but whatchyagonnado?

Smith -- Dallas is not great at defense.

Kamara/Thompson -- I like Kamara's usage and targets. Seattle isn't as awesome against the run as people assume. And I see Cousins having to get rid of it quickly.

Thomas/Crabtree/Nuk -- I know Nuk is crazy high-priced but Savage is gonna turn to him w/ comic frequency IMO.

Witten -- KC isn't good at defense. Dak clearly likes getting it to Witten.

Nugent

Rams

Does the Fournette change opinions on using Jaguars defense?  Will the lack of Jaguars offensive weapons put the defense on the field too much and in a lot of tough starting positions?

or does this keep the Jags from controlling the game clock and allow the Bengals offense more chances to have the ball and thus turn it over/get sacked?

I managed to squeeze Zeke and Gurley into a line up together which doesn't look too horrible.

Newton - Elliott/Gurley - Thomas/Crabtree/Goodwin - Davis - Walsh - Rams

Saved some $$ dropping to Newton over Wilson, not exciting, but could still be enough to cash.  Goodwin is risky, but with Garcon out and a $4800 price tag, it seems worth the risk.  Cheap TE in Davis who I think is a viable play with Reed and Crowder out.   Hmmmm....I may pop it into a few 50/50 contests.

IIRC, they seemed to fair well without Fournette the last time he missed.

It doesn't for me b/c it was all about their dl vs Cinci' s bad OL.

The news of today put me on trying Denv D in some gpps though since w/o E rtz Philly might have trouble.

Nah, my AJ Derby shares are probably pushing the envelope enough.  Burton might just be a good punt play though since the TE is the weakness of the Denv D.
I think I’m goimg to try a what the heck Burton GPP. My “well thought out” gpp’s rarely cash so it can’t hurt.

Just found out, with 15 minutes to spare, that Ertz & Fournette are both inactive! Had both of them in the same GPP - major scramble!!! Ertz was also my starting TE in three season-long leagues. Now if you'll pardon me, I need to go get some water to cool of my mouse & keyboard.  :D

Btw, I might be listening closer to that podcast I mentioned before.  My top LU is the one where I combined their ideas- Rams onslaught and Hopkins/Hilton from that game.  Had McCaffrey as well.

Last of my FD money going into play today so need to win.

Another horrible week couldn't even break 100. Going to be at least 2 weeks until I can reload my account so it's DK only until then.

Cash+ build at the moment:

Wilson, Hunt/McCaffrey, Dez/Crabtree/Ginn, Graham, Nugent, Rams
Stuck with one lineup this week, played the above, with a last second swap of Hunt for Gurley

Wilson, Gurley/McCaffrey, Dez/Crabtree/Gin, Graham, Nugent, Rams - 119.98.  Cashed 50/50, 2x, 3x.  Missed 5x by ~6 points.  Needed a little more juice from the kicker, or Landry over Crabtree in the SNF.

Definitely more of a mental victory than a financial one, but my best LU ended up at 167.14 and 60th place out of 191K for $12 in the 25cent entry.  It made watching the SNF game fun a TD from Cook would have gotten it to the top 25 or so for $40-50.   I also was in a neck and neck battle for the one friends league - I had Landry, he had Stills.  Ended up losing by 1pt on that last 20yd Stills catch, but again, it made it more fun to watch.  That would have been another $10.

Not big money, but still a good week since I just played 100% super cheap gpps.  $10 in, $17 out.  - Mostly on the Rams stacks, and I did have Cook in 4 or 5 LUs too.  Also made the decision to have a bit less of Hunt than I originally had planned, so that helped, but Ingram held other LUs back.

On to babbling about next week....

My lineup lost quite a bit of steam after the early games. Still raked but I certainly wasn't hoping for 128 at about 3:05 central.

Well, scored 121+ so won all my cash games. I was worried not having TY would kill me. Pretty low scoring week. Seemed like nobody really went off at RB so having the two studs kept me in the running. Cam didn't pass well, but did rush well. My WR's got me about what I expected if they didn't get in the end zone. Luckily Sanu did. I'll take it. Even won my 3X games.

Ok. I won $3,500 on a $5 ticket awhile back. So that's cool. But I have been struggling to win consistently ever since. Can someone give me some pointers? I normally play the cheap $1 to $5 tournaments. General strategy tips would be greatly appreciated.

Very tough to consistently win in tourneys.

I just won $5800 last week I'm up about 7K this season.  I stick to the stack RB with defense almost always, kickers with the biggest legs, WR vs opposing WR 1 or 2 or WR1 vs WR2 something like that.  The main thing I try not to do is talk myself out of playing someone bc theyre going up against a good D or the "theyre just not good" mentality.  Basically just don't overthink it too much.  I kinda got away from playing the main slates and am focusing on the primetime slates which is where most of my success has came from this year.

Philosophy question:

I have a chance to cash an entry in two Thurs - Mon GPPs....nothing major / if my players tonight do well I'll turn $1.25 into $20 - $50....that's not the point.

I have Stafford / Tate / Jones for Det and Aaron Jones for GB in a $1 GPP and a $0.25 GPP.  Do I swap out Tate and Jones for Nelson and Adams in the cheaper contest?

Pretty sure I stand pat on Stafford and Jones, but flipping the WRs is an option (Tate + Marvin + $100 = Adams + Jordy and I have $100 left in cap).

Actually if I read it correctly I'm not able to edit the lineups independently?  (as you can see I'm pretty much a "fire and forget" player)

No diggity.

So is my money better spent elsewhere? Like 50/50s?
I think most long-term players would say to run a chunk of your roll out in 50/50's and/or doubles. Back when I was playing a ton I would run 85% of my roll out in cash games (3 or so lineups) and 15% into GPPs. But I tend to skew conservative in my money management. And I would play some triples and call them "cash" too.

Lots of guys here can help you w/ GPP construction -- I've never been terribly good at it in NFL. Others here seem to be better at it.

FWIW, I think there's pretty good data out there that cutlines in cash games tend to be lower in lower dollar contests. So you're better off playing 4 $5 doubles (or 10 $2) than a $20 double.

Also look for the single entry ones as much as possible.  So it might be better to do a $5 SE double up than 3 $2 entries in the huge ME one if that's all that's available.  Reason for that is it's more likely that the big players dump 50 great LUs into the huge ME contest and more likely skew the cash lines higher.

That's a pretty good bank roll, I would suggest, much like a portfolio, to diversify what you are entering.  Try to stay to around 10% to 15% of your bankroll in play at one time.

I'd play more cash than GPP, construct 2 cash LUs and enter them into the large $2 DBL ups, I'd say 30-50 entries with that bankroll.  I personally avoid the 50/50s but they are an option.  I would also suggest playing some $2-$10 H2Hs and then some $5-$10 100 player leagues.  Use the your GPP LUs for the leagues and your cash for the H2H.

For GPPs stacking is where I have most success, QB/WR or QB/TE, RB/Def, this is also a good idea for cash LU construction especially in high total games.

I also like to super stack some of my GPP LUs in the $2-$5 entries, QB/WR/TE or QB/WR/WR and even Running QB/RB/Def

Finally don't be scared to take a high total game and play 6 or 7 players from that game as a GPP option.

Look for Ks in high total games playing at home, preferable indoors

Look for high TO ration teams playing high TO creating team Ds, even if it's a high point total game, don't shy away from the playing the D.  Def don't score much based on points given up, they score on TOs/sacs/Def TDs so don't sweat giving up points.

These are a few things just off the top of my head.

Good Luck
