Fearless Predictions for 2008 (1 Viewer)

LJ Smith finishes top 7 TEs

Larry Johnson finishes top 4 RBs

Matt Schaub finishes top 7 QBs ...Alex Smith finishes top 10 (on the high side of this)

Drew Bennett kills for his ADP and finishes top 24 WRs

I predict any player with an ADP of 150 or lower that hasn't been named so far (I know, my list is short at this point) will break the top 10.

2008 #1 RB.......MJD!!!!

Derek Anderson finshes as a top 5 QB.

Anthony Gonzalez is a top 12 WR.

Scheffler top 3 TE.

Justin Tuck top 5 DE.

David Harris #1 LB.

Gibril Wilson #1 DB

One more thing, Brett Favre gets traded to the Bills and leads them to their first ever SB victory!!!

KC finishes at 8-8 .. ahead of both Oakland (which suffers with lack of team chemistry) and Denver (who just can't stay healthy at WR/RB).

Jason Hill finishes as a starter for SF, as Bruce's age catches up with him mid-season.

Frank Gore is a top 3 back (along with SJax and LT)... not too much of a stretch.. but still

Colston is the #1 WR, ahead of both Wayne/Moss/TO (who are not too far behind)

Portis is able to stay healthy again, and finishes in the top 6 along with LJ who makes a fine return to help the Chiefs to their 8-8 record (one game short of the playoffs)

AD has 1000+ yards through 7 games, then goes down and has a lingering injury slow him down for the rest of the season

McFadden does not reach 1000 all purpose yards on the year, and his owners become worried

Jamal Lewis has 12+ TDs and 1200+ yards and finishes as great value wrt his ADP

Brady and Manning both pass for 35+ TDs in an epic duel... but Brees beats them both in yards and TDs.

Reggie Bush lives up to the hype... 1000 rushing and 1000 receiving yards and the Saints lose in the Conf finals to the Cowboys.

Turner does not live up to the hype... and is stuck in a RBBC with Norwood all year round and neither break 1000 yards rushing (but Vick could do it?)

Vick lights up the prison league as he preps to return to the NFL one day....

Donovan McNabb finishes as a top-5 QB ahead of Romo, Palmer and Brees.

Derek Anderson loses his job to Brady Quinn. Quinn puts up top-10 per game numbers from start #1.

Joseph Addai gets 300 carries.

Maroney finishes in the top-10 ahead of guys like Portis and LJ.

Michael Turner is the breakout RB of 08' he finishes in the top-5 in rushing yards but his lack of TD's keep him from being a top-10 fantasy back.

Micheal Bush wins the Brandon Jacobs award for most annoying goal-line vulture as he unexpectedly gets 10 TD's.

Reggie Wayne takes the league by storm by leading the league in catches, yards and TD's. Wayne is the only Colts WR to finish in the top-30.

Brandon Marshall finishes in the top-5 despite a 2 game suspension.

Dwayne Bowe catches 12 TD's in year 2. However, his yardage stays about the same and he just misses the top-10.

James Hardy becomes the immediate #1 WR in buffalo and puts up a 1,000 yard 8 TD year and wins rookie of the year.

Todd Heap gets 1,000 yards and finishes in the top-3 at TE.

Dustin Keller leads the Jets in TD catches with 7 and gets 500 yards to go with it. Making Keller a top-10 TE.
Fixed!

Brandon Marshall finishes in the top-5 despite a 10 game suspension.

Anthony Gonzalez finishes as a top 20 wr

Jake Delhomme finishes as the #6 qb

Nate Burleson finishes as a top 20 wr

Jason Wright finishes as a top 15 rb

I'll drink the Rudi Kool-aid as well.

Utecht top 20 as Marvin says "Who knew TEs could catch?".

Bengals show much improvement but killer schedule maxes them out at 8-8.

I was going to say "Cincy Def finishes top-15" but my "Add Reply" button keeps graying out every time I type it.

* Jonathan Stewart finishes as a top 5 RB

* Kevin Boss finishes as a top 5 TE

* Larry Johnson finishes outside the top 20 RB, even without missing significant time

* Only rookie to finish in top 25 WR: Earl Bennett

* Nate Burleson becomes a WR1 for fantasy purposes

* Matt Moore becomes this year's Derek Anderson

Brandon Marshall finishes in the top-5 despite a 10 game suspension.
Truthfully I think Marshall will finish top-10 despite a 4-game suspension.A few more:

Pierre Thomas finishes with more fantasy points than Reggie Bush(assuming both are healthy)

Vince Young bounces back with a top-10 fantasy season and 10 rushing TD's.

Ben Watson steps up in Stallworth's absence and catches 10 TD's.

Vincent Jackson is San Diego's leading receiver(including over Gates.)

Drew Brees finishes with fewer than 25 scores.

Chris Johnson takes the starting job from LenDale White.

Wes Welker finishes with fewer than 80 catches and fewer than 6 TD's.

Antonio Gates fails to finish among the top-5 fantasy TE's.

AFC North

The Bengals win the AFC North win 9 wins.

Pittsburgh finishes 8-8, giving up the most sacks in the NFL.

Browns finish 7-9, Brady Quinn finishes the year as the starting QB

Ravens finish 4th and start 4 different starting QBs during the year.

AFC South

Jacksonville wins the division.

Tennessee and Indianapolis secure WC slots

Chris Johnson leads all rookie RBs, wins OROY

Houston just misses the playoffs.

AFC West

San Diego runs away with the division.

Jay Cutler is a top 5 QB

DMac sits over 4 games with nagging injuries

Brodie Croyle finishes in the top 15.

AFC East

L. Maroney finds his groove.

Buffalo falls just short of the playoffs

Miami finishes 3rd in the division, Ted Ginn is a bust as a #1 WR

NY Jets finish last, coach is fired in season.

NFC East

Dal & Phi make the playoffs

NYG misses the playoffs, running game falls flat.

Romo not in top 10, Barber & FJones split carries

McNabb stays healthy for the whole year

Was spends more money.

NFC West

Julius Jones thrives in Seattle

Frank Gore gets injured again, Martz discovers Vernon Davis

Arizona wins the division, Bolden resigns

St. Louis rediscovers their high-flying passing game

NFC North

Aaron Rogers loses his job to Favre or Brohm.

Minnesota runs, literally, away with the division.

Matt Forte proves Cedric Benson is a no-talent hack, Chi defense is bottom 15.

Dan Orlovsky starts 8 games for the Lions.

NFC South

NO & Carolina make the playoffs

Saints make the Superbowl

Julius Peppers rediscovers the pass rush

Tampa Bay struggles with 3 different starting QBs

Atlanta finishes with the worst record in the NFL

I dont know how bold these are but I just wanted to get them down in writing:

Calvin Johnson becomes a stud WR (top 10)

Brandon Jacobs becomes a stud RB (top 10)

Ted Ginn becomes an every week starter at WR

The Bengals offense becomes an absolute mess affecting all players values

Derek Anderson loses his job to Brady Quinn based on performance

I also say Colston will be the No. 1 guy as well as bush living up to the hype, along with Sidney Rice leading the Vikes WRs in TDs with 8

*Redskins shock the nation, make the SuperBowl

*Chad Johnson sees little action early, re-injurs his shoulder, out for seaoson after 4 weeks

*Jonathan Stewart is this years Adriane Peterson

*Jamal Lewis continues to shock as he racks up TDs

*Jets click on all cylanders, Favre carries them strong into the playoffs, then they put up a donut and get destroyed in round 1.

*Tampa Bay struggles at Running game, as Graham gets cut and they rely on Warrick Dunn....again....

*Rams average 42 points a game, still miss playoffs

*Drew Brees finishes #1 Fantasy QB

*Addai gets sidelined to nurse an injury, Rhodes struggles, Mike Hart explodes onto the scene and becomes the #1 on dif. team next year

*Steve Smith punches someone else

*Ted Ginn Jr. finishes a top 10 WR

I'll throw my hat in the ring....

General Thoughts:

* ADP is not in the Top 5 RB at end of the year, but Portis is in the Top 3

* San Francisco offense explodes and they win the division (but lose in the first playoff game)

* Chris Perry stays RB1 in Cincinnati all year

* Lee Evans is Top 5 this year

* Jets make playoffs, GB doesn't, GB management is sacked

#1s:

QB: Brees

RB: Portis

WR: Fitzgerald

TE: V. Davis

K: Joe Nedney

D: Minnesota by a mile

It's amazing that after a month and a half of simply training camp and pre-season - how much alot of these predictions have become even more unlikely.

* Reggie Bush continues to be mediocre

* McFadden is not given the ball nearly enough to make an impact and no one understands why

* 11 out of 12 people in each league regret not taking Marvin Harrison sooner

* Chad Johnson performs well above his current value.

* Marqis Colston performs well below his current value.

* Lendale white benefits from Chris Johnsons presence and puts up a top 10 RB season

* The Saints will have the worst running game in the NFL yet make the playoffs

* Colston misses enough games to keep him out of the top 20 and Devry Henderson becomes No.1 on the Saints

* No rookie becomes "this years Peterson"

* Peterson falls out of the top 10

* Fred Taylor continues to play without getting injured

* Chris Perry ends up a top 5 RB in PPR leagues

* Rudi Johnson joins the same golf club that Shaun Alexander belongs to

* Brett Favre gets exaggerated praise for making plays that any decent NFL qb can make

* The Patriots unexplainably try to run the ball more than last year

* The Gaints end up winning the NFC despite their losses on defense

* Dallas lives up to the hype for most of the year, but again falls short in the playoffs

* Green Bay and NYG play for the NFC campionship

* Arron Rodgers find a favorite target and produces a top 5 WR

* Megatron performs like an animal for the first half of the season and Roy Williams performs like a top WR for the second half of the season.

* Kitna performs well but does not threaten to produce a 30 TD season.

* Several 2007 one-back systems turn into full RBBC: NYG, Miami, Baltimore, Seattle, Carolina, NYJ, Tennessee, to name a few.

* Dallas converts from RBBC to a single back system (~280 carries for MB3)

* Denver ends up with one of the more prolific passing games in the league and Marshall is nearly unstoppable by the end of the season.

* Cleveland goes with Quinn and they do badly and everyone suffers except Winslow.

* Matt Ryan does suprisingly well for a rokkie QB and Roddie White becomes one of the best steals in fantasy football.

* Michael Turner does very well, but loses too many touches to Norwood to be a RB1.

* Norwood has his best year being utilized with Turner differently than he was with Dunn

* Ricky Williams gets 15-17 carries per game and has a 1200+ yard season.

* Vernon Davis has a 1000 yard season

* Frank Gore gets 2000 all-purpose yards

* Isaac Bruce puts up a respectable PPR season

* Steven Jackson does not return to form running the ball, but gets 70+ receptions this year.

* Seattle leads the division in rushing, but produces no fantasy RB studs.

* No seattle WR pans out as far as fantasy stats go (returning starters muddy the water)

* Tampa Bay finally plays like a bunch of 37 yr olds

* Clinton Portis puts up another 1200 yd season in an unspectacular fashion

* Jason Campbell throws more than 12 TDs this year

* Brian Westbrook gets over 100 receptions

* The Vikings struggle to score, but remain a force on defense (aka da bears until a couple yrs ago)

* The lions run game never breaks out

* The bears run game does better than the predicted 3.3/carry.... but not by much.

* Kyle Orton is predicably better than Grossman ever was and regrows his neck beard by late October

* The Bears continue to struggle on defense, but begin to score on offense

I could go on, but I'm getting bored of typing

Copied and pasted from a similar topic over a week ago.

Top suprises are:

1) Chris Johnson - although he is no secret at all and was a first round draft pick but most were thinking of him as a COP/3rd down type. But those of us on the CJ3 train know better. This kid is going to be a star player and a huge PPR beast over the next half a dozen years. I am looking for at least RB2 type numbers this season easy.

2) Chris Perry - If healthy all year will take over the feature back role in Cincy and be a very nice sleeper this season. I could easisly see him rushing for just over a 800 yards and catch 40 plus balls making him a valuable 3rd RB and great flex option. But his upside is higher than that IMO.

3) Ted Ginn Jr - big jump this year to 63+ receptions and half a dozen TD's

4) L. Coles - everyone is touting Cotchery but this guy will be the reception machine for the now Favre led Jets offense. I see him as a Welker type wr for Favre. 80+ receptions for 1100 yards and 6 TD's. A super solid week in wek out guy. Cotch will have those 25 point weeks but Coles will give you those 15-17 point weeks almost all year. He is the true value play this season and next (if Favre sticks around).

5) Willie Parker - everyone is starting to write this guy off. I like Mendy. He is a great prospect. However FWP is the starter this season and may actually end being a much better goaline back if Mendy does not learn to run lower inside the 5 yard line. He is having trouble in short yardage believe it or not. I think this is not a full blown RBBC as everyone seems to think. Parker gets 70-80% of the work. He rushes for 1300 yards and also finds paydirt 9 times this season. Great value based on his current ADP.

Top 5 dissapointments:

1) Ryan Grant - those of you who have read my posts on him know I feel he was a huge benefactor of the Favre effect. I think he is a flash in the pan. I am not going to state all the reasons again. I will just say this. He is highly over valued and will perform as a RB3 this season. His ADP suggests he should be an RB2 at a minimum and people truly believe he will be top 10. I say prove it over 16 games.

2) Calvin Johnson - G-dly talent. I have no questions about his game. He is a stud. I just think expectations are very high and what people are overlooking is the Lions will not be throwing the ball as much as last season and Roy Williams will be getting his as well. I think those expecting the big breakout year will be dissapointed this season. When Roy leaves next year then the Calvin love will be in full force. I project 65-70 for 1000 and 6 TDs. A great 2nd year but not the top 5-7 numbers that I think are expected now.

3) Marshawn Lynch - Loads of talent but a bad team. I just don't see him putting up top 5-7 numbers with that team and QB. This one may bite me big time if Edwards is a true check down charlie and Lynch grabs 50 plus balls.

4) Earnest Graham - a former 3rd stringer who was a pleasent suprise last season. I don't see him being what he is being drafted to be in a RB2. Warrick Dunn may be old...but he can still ball and will mixed in often. Graham is no workhorse and does nothing special at all. I see him barely cracking 1000 total yards. Yeah really.

5) Greg Jennings - part II of my Favre effect. How many games did we see 3 for 89 and 1TD. Forget that. Jennnings, a great talent and route runner will take 2 steps back with the change at QB. he is being drafted ahead of Driver who I think will be the better fantasy option week in week out. If Rodgers proves me wrong and has little drop off from Favre's production and superb deep ball then I will eat crow on this one.

No fantasy #1 at any position repeats again this year (Brady, LT, Moss, Witten, Crosby, SD).
Nice call, this is a :IBTL: ; so who does finish #1 at each position? Care to go out on a limb??
QB: Drew BreesRB: Adrian PetersonWR: Braylon EdwardsTE: Antonio GatesK: Nick FolkDEF: Minnesota Vikings
I'll give you Brees and Vikings def, but Braylon will find the going tough, if/when DA is benched or injured and Quinn enters as the starting QB for Cle...Peterson has picked up where he left off last season, i.e., he's not looking good AT ALL..averaging 2.6 ypc in preseason..now, I know it is 'preseason' and all, but he doesn't look any better than he did during the final 6 games of 2007,when he avg'd just 3.8 per carry...I think ADP is in for a long season..:DGates is a high risk/high reward type player this season...
