- Both of the really big stories will happen in the NFC. The first will be the resurgence of the Green Bay Packers. With a much improved defense combined with a capable offense. All you'll hear about from late September on is about "Brett Favre's last super bowl run". The Packers take one of the top two spots in the NFC.
- The other big story in the NFC will be the success of the Atlanta Falcon's. Left for dead with the departure of Mike Vick. The Falcons adopt the "us against the world" persona and make a run at the NFC crown. Joey Harrington plays much better than expected and Jerious Norwood becomes a star. In the end, the Falcons will settle the debate of the lack of passing success "was it Vick or the receivers?" Answer: Yep, it was Vick. The passing game surprises.
- The Ravens will have one of the best offenses in the AFC. Clayton continues to improve, Demetrius Williams explodes and McGahee proves a better fit for the offense. Combined with a strong defense, the Ravens are one of the best teams in the AFC.
- The Colts defense takes a step back, and Indy is forced to outgun teams. This leads to a 9 to 10 win season and an early playoff exit.
- Surprise worst team in the AFC: The Miami Dolphins. Can't score, can't defend. Cam Cameron might have a short stay in South Florida.
More individual player predictions:
- League MVP: Donovan McNabb. Knee brace and all.
- Cadillac Williams leads the NFC in rushing.
- Frank Gore (surprise!) gets dinged up and finishes outside of the top 20 RBs.
- Tomlinson is the most valuable player, but Addai finishes #2.
- Lamont Jordan finishes top 10 in Oakland and reminds everyone why they were so high on him a couple of years ago.
- Larry Johnson finishes outside of the top 10. Part of it will be the missing training camp/lack of fire due to new contract. More of it will be due to the fact that KC's QB and WRs stink. Teams gang up on Johnson and dare Huard to beat them.
- Brandon Jacobs is a top 10 RB for most of the season, but suffers an injury midseason due to his hard charging style.
- Anquan Boldin (and not Fitz) finishes as a top 5 WR. Boldin lines up all over the field and conistantly puts up good numbers each week.
- Clemens overtakes Pennington for the Jets by mid-season.
- Ben Watson - Top 3 tight end.
- Tony Romo is a turnover machine in Dallas. Talk to bench him starts early in October. He ultimately keeps the job (who else can they play at QB?) but Dallas brings in a big name FA QB next off-season.
- This year's "out-of-nowhere WR" ala Colston and Cotchery:
Demetrius Williams
- Jerious Norwood, 1200 yards, 12 touchdowns. Leads the league in "highlight reel" type plays. Talking heads start comparing Norwood to Reggie Bush.
