The week 7 "deep sleeper" report (1 Viewer)

Ok, we know the Waiver discussion and waivers for most leagues have run (FFPC notwithstanding): so lets talk guys who are "deeper" that may be worth rostering or maybe worth a "spot" start:

THURSDAY:

Vele in Denver: Kid seems to be a target hog and I guess he was hurt since week one. Last week he saw some better usage and he may be worth a Thursday start if you are in PPR.
The New Orleans TEs; Looks like no Taysom again this week, and the rest of the receivers are dead. Johnson looked good last week and I feel a sneaky Moreu TD happens tomorrow.
Bub Means was talked about in the Waiver wire thread, but if he made it
through the waiver run, the Shaheed news puts him front and center.
Ced Wilson is a complete despeation play, but he is a veteran and got a few looks last week.
Estime may be worth an add but not a start. Same goes for Kendre miller for those of you with a roster spot and / or Kamara on your team.

SUNDAY:

Demarcus Robinson: He was dinged before the bye, and unlike Tutu and Whittington, he was on the preseason fantasy radar. With him (and Kupp and alot of the Rams) getting healthy he may be a cheap dart throw.
Calvin Austin and Freiermuth: Wilson gets the start and he is not a runner anymore. Wilson said austin reminds him of Tyler Lockett (pre season comment) and Freiemuth is the only other decent pass catcher that may be on the wire. Still, you are banking on Russ cooking vs a Jet team that is in transition.
Jonnu Smith: Miami has one or two more weeks of "non Tua" QB play, and they had a bye to try and right the ship. Smith was seeing some more targets from Huntley before the bye so in this "crappy TE" era he may be worth a dart throw.

Feel free to throw in yours.

I'm intrigued by Vele, but just don't have room in one league.

Injuries play such a crucial role each week and have a domino effect. I prefer to roster high upside bench guys and leave the others on the waiver wire, even if they get some play due to injuries. Problem is, we don't always make the right decisions and sometimes miss out on guys that are better than we thought. Puka Nacua comes to mind for me last year. Or we hold guys that we think are high upside and prove not to be. Zach Evans comes to mind last year. I too have dropped and picked up Sean Tucker. Is Troy Franklin or Kayhson Boutte another example of someone we give up on that proves us wrong? Well, you don't have room for everyone in most leagues, so hard decisions have to be made on our perceived high upside bench stashes. Win some, lose some. Just try to win more than you lose.

For a dynasty team that's now FAAB bankrupt, I really want to make room for the following pre-emptive adds:

Emm Wilson - Best handcuff available bar none. Sounds like Lloyd is maybe a week or two out. Does Wilson have the better part of a 60-40 committee if Jacobs gets dinged, or is there actual workhorse potential even if Lloyd gets back to health?

Boutte - Ascending snap count. Talent was never the issue. I like Douglas better as a lineup option moving forward, but he's not available and I don't want to sleep on Boutte's ceiling if he has actually turned the switch.

Khalil Herbert - Trade could be coming. Doesn't mean he's going to find himself in a great opportunity, but I wouldn't mind seeing where he lands after rostering him for years and years.

Tre Tucker - I scooped him two weeks ago before rage dropping him for not seizing the opportunity. The opportunity is still there though, and he has flashed big games already. Head coach has talked him up. I would have liked to stick this one out for another week or two.

I would have to drop Alec Pierce or Whittington. I can definitely make a case for Wilson over both, but I really want to give Whittington the duration of Nacua's injury window. I'm probably more intrigued by his game than Pierce. Pierce is absolutely chasing points that don't seem sustainable. With that said, I do want to see A-Rich's bombs falling incomplete instead of Flacco's before completely writing him and his one trick off forever.

Two straight DNP for Diontae Johnson, which puts him in danger of possibly missing Week 7. That would make Xavier Legette the de facto WR1 in a favorable matchup against Washington's defense. Could be a big time sleeper for this week.

Consider Tyler Goodson IND if Taylor can't go, which seems likely, maybe for 2 weeks even. Goodson has quickness and speed and has outperformed Sermon. Smaller back, good receiver, although he had a key drop when IND was fighting for a playoff spot in Jan; that was in wiki, did @JohnnyU add that to wiki?!
