RB Jordan James, SF (1 Viewer)

Here is another guy not being talked about a lot because the RB class is so deep. He ran 233/1267/15 in 2024. He's 5'10"210. He's someone that has a wide variety of outcomes. He could go in the 3rd round of the NFL draft, or go undrafted. Another dart throw in the 3rd or 4th round of rookie drafts, or even a FA waiver wire pickup. I was fortunate enough to see a few of his games, and while I don't pretend to know what he will do in the NFL, I liked the way he runs. I kind of remember him being explosive at the point of attack. Like many of these lower tier RBs the combine is going to be very important for them.

NFL Draft Files
Jordan James (Oregon) has answered a lot of questions this season and is a major riser at RB in the 2025 NFL Draft 👀

He’s proven he can be a true lead back and has become a more willing pass protector.

Oregon RB Jordan James' ability to jump cut and create yards after contact is really fun!

Oregon RB Jordan James This Season:

🦆 206 Rush Attempts
🦆 ZERO Fumbles

Agreed, another one that I like, didn’t lose a fumble last year if I’m not mistaken.

I don’t know how he’s going to do but I think he’s a top 10 rb in this super deep class
Dane Brugler had him as his RB6 I think and overall number 62.

He was on a podcast later and asked who he was higher on then consensus, referenced this ranking, and added that when he watched last year he thought James was the better player then Bucky Irving.

Beast RB #7- 3rd round grade
5'-9.5". 208#
4.51 40 time

Decisive zone runner with above average vision
Reliable ball security
"Overall, James' well-rounded, no nonsense run style will translate well to the NFL game, as will his feel for maximizing runs at the line of scrimmage and making the first man miss, which he does in multiple different ways (power, balance, quickness, vision). He has the talent to quickly ascend to the top of a team's running back chart- and stay there."

RSP- RB 12
Depth of talent score- 83.4 = rotational starter- executes as a starter level in a role playing to their strengths.

San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Jordan James has played well in training camp so far, and 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said James "hits holes hard," according to Vic Tafur and Matt Barrows of The Athletic. A fifth-round selection out of Oregon, James rushed for 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Ducks in 2024. He's presumably competing with 2024 fourth-rounder Isaac Guerendo and fifth-year veteran Patrick Taylor Jr. for the backup job to 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Given the injuries that McCaffrey has dealt with throughout his career, James could find himself in the mix for carries sooner rather than later. He needs an injury to be fantasy relevant, but James could emerge as an intriguing ultra-late-round handcuff option if he continues to impress throughout the remainder of the preseason.--Will Brady

Saw a tweet yesterday that James and Pearsall were not seen at practice.

Today they brought in 5 WR’s and 3 RB’s for workouts. The RB’s are Jeff Wilson, Ameer Abdullah and D’Ernest Johnson.*

Hope does mean one of those players is injured.

*ETA they actually worked out 4 RB’s. Deon Jackson was one I missed.

Haven’t heard anything about injury. What I just heard on local radio is that it “might be indicative that they’re not getting a strong enough performance out of the guys behind CMC”.

Could be camp bodies, or maybe to push James/Guerendo.

Probably not the best sign for either of the young RBs if they bring back Wilson or sign Johnson.

Thanks for answering but I’ve been reading nothing but glowing reports on James and timing of this the day after he and Pearsall were not seen is why I wondered if something is up.

I did some google searching and saw this off of a tweet. This is for 7/29, today the 49ers had the day off. For Tuesday it looks like Pearsall was given the day off for rest, but no reason is given for Jordan James.

Absences from #49ers Camp 7/29:

WR Ricky Pearsall (rest)
DL Mykel Williams (ankle -minor)
CB Deommodore Lenoir (unknown)
RB Jordan James (unknown)
WR Jacob Cowing (hamstring)
WR Jauan Jennings (calf)
DL Tarron Jackson (neck) placed on IR

James has a knee issue and will be evaluated throughout the week.

Pearsall was back but Jennings and Coward are tbd.

This all explains the RB and WR visits and signings. Figured their sudden desperation was injury driven but at least Pearsall and CMC seem fine.

Today is the first time I’ve seen him mentioned since the injury, good news to see him back in action.

Jordan James Back

“Rookie RB Jordan James, who had knee issues last week, is getting a lot of run in team drills today. Isaac Guerendo is expected to miss multiple weeks with a shoulder injury.”
