FFA Movie Poll - 1984 Lists Due 7/29 (1 Viewer)

I'm glad with the top 5 but one of Karate Kid/Ghostbusters/Terminator should have been number 1.  I'll take it though considering all you old geezers who are voting in this thing.
We got it right. Spinal Tap is a great film and set the stage for modern comedy  with it's style. Amadeus was the best movie of the year but it wasn't going to ever get #1 here, I am glad it placed in the top 10. Also, I still can't believe Major League won 1989.

@Eephus  I watched The Hit tonight, and I think if anything you've downplayed how great it is.  It was fan-freaking-tastic and would have received top points from me if I'd watched it in time.  I want to encourage anyone in this thread to watch it, as I think it would be appealing to a broad audience.  There are the stunning performances (when John Hurt is only the third-best performance in your movie, you've got something) and amazing directing and cinematography, but also what I thought was pretty much non-stop action, but in a smart way.  I don't see how anyone wouldn't like this movie.  Stephen Frears had a great two-year run with this and My Beautiful Laundrette as his first two features.  Sheesh.

Oh, and minor spoiler:

 Terence Stamp is positively dreamy.
Glad you enjoyed the movie.

The combination of arthouse and action was pretty unique at the time.  I thought the filmmakers ran out of ideas a bit towards the end but it made sense in a way since there was a lot of ruminating about mortality throughout the movie.

RE: your spoiler.  late-60s Terence Stamp (the decade not the Sexagenarian) is on Mrs. Eephus' top five list
