23 Train to Busan
24 It Follows
28 [REC] - this is probably top of my to see list right now
33 The Conjuring
36 The Babadook
42 Frankenstein
44 Audition
45 Nosferatu

Oh man, there are some awesome movies waiting for you. I got the Arrow bluray of Audition from the library the other day, so I am going to pop that in on my rainy day off today. I also grabbed the 4k disc of what I assume is #1 on the countdown, so I watched that last night. I'm going to have stare at my top 15 and think about it more. I had it at 4, but I can't shake the feeling that I have replaced it at the tippy top of my list with other movies - like Let the Right One In, Hereditary, and [rec]. Anyway, can't wait for some reactions when people get to great movies they haven't yet because of this thread.

Somehow ran across VIY and read up a little( a real little) and its sounds pretty dang good. See there is a 2014 remake of sorts but I'm going to give this one a try first Anyone seen or heard of this before?

This was the first movie I saw where I understood the phrase "makes my skin crawl."

I haven’t seen Hereditary. Wife watched it without me years ago and I haven’t felt like watching on my own. I’ll get to it. Same with Midsommer I caught the last 30 minutes or so

Agree and I hate it. Don’t like that movie at all, never want to see it again. I wish it didn’t exist lol.

I'm not there but I'm the outlier among those who had it on their lists, as I have it down at #70. I get that it's groundbreaking and I think it needs to be seen, but with all the great horror films that now exist, I find it more iconic than high-quality. I won't knock others that rate it higher, as I acknowledge its griminess, weird villains and implicit gore (as little actual gore is shown), including the chainsaw sounds, which convey pure terror.

:goodposting: This is exactly what I would go on and on about for why I have it rated so high. This movie just absolutely clicks with me on a visceral level. I probably rewatch it every couple of years.

In some ways, a movie that disgusts you so much you never want to see it again could be the ultimate compliment for a horror movie. Those are the ones I seek out to watch when I hear about them.
