FFPC dynasty and redraft leagues thread (5 Viewers)

Does it strategically make sense to bench everyone playing in early games? My understanding is you can still move them into starting spots if they do well, but I think you can drop people who play if they are on your bench?
I don't think it matters if you have them on your bench or not. It works both ways. You can move Javonte Williams into you starting lineup if you had him on your bench and you can move AJ Brown to your bench if you had him in your starting lineup.

Of course, we're just talking about Big Gorilla and Main Event leagues in week 1 only.
This is all correct.

The only thing to note is if you want to drop someone on the Sunday morning waiver run that played in the opener or the game tonight you have to remove them from your lineup. I did not know this myself but saw the FFPC answer this question in their chat yesterday.

I could see some people deciding to drop the Philly D for instance and not realizing you have to have them out of the lineup when waivers run.
I had Dallas D for a couple of early BG's
None of the 4 teams D's that played did anything right? Just make sure to take out the Dallas D out of your lineup for the waiver run tomorrow morning.

I had two LAC D's on early BG drafts from before the schedule was even made and one late draft where I took the Eagles D. I'm hitting the waiver wire for D's in those leagues and I assume anyone who had any D that played either drafted another D or is going to try and pick one up.

Pickings might be slim and a little competitive with up to 3-4 teams in each league trying to pick up a D but I'm sure not trying to sit on a 3 or something.

Yeah I am surprised by how bleak the options were. Might make me push D up a couple of rounds in my Mian today

My exact same thought and if we are thinking it we are probably not alone.

I did a ME last night, before the second game, and already was in the mindset to push up D a little and the main group I wanted all went 1-2 rounds higher then ADP(except Denver, went about normal) so it might have already started and just got harder.

I like Jax as a darkhorse week 1 DEF. Hosting Carolina.
Seattle at home is always a really really really tough place to play. CMC maybe limited or out.
TB on the road but against an unproven QB in Penix
CHI at home against an unproven QB in McCarthy with banged up receivers
Indy at home v Miami
Jets at home v Pittsburgh and the Rodgers experiment. Sauce might shut down DK and it might be ugly for PIT.

I know you guys don't wanna give away to much info to readers but just a few examples I'm looking at. Many of these squads went undrafted.

SEA is actually my most owned TD, was kind of my safety blanket D if I waited till last pick or two and they all got picked over. Could be an actually elite or very good fantasy D all year. Baltimore NW.

Washington and NYG are two I'm looking at where available. Thomas out is a major blow to the Giants OL and Abdul Carter might be a game changer.

Chicago and Jets are both of interest.

Good list.

Part of the quirkiness of being able to swap Thurs and Fri players is a guy like Q Johnston who had ~24 some fantasy points last night. So I'm like ok obviously gotta put him in my lineup but then the question stands who do I bench? And although you might think you're getting some sort of value bonus by being able to know in advance of a commitment decision that player x scored 24, it is entirely possible you pick the wrong stud to bench and end up doing worse in the end than if you hadn't had the option in the first place. It happened to me in a couple leagues last year week 1.

So anyway I only grabbed Q Johnston in my very first gorilla of the year back in April and so who are you benching here?

Mike Evans, Tyreek, Jamo, Njoku?

I have LaPorta in as TE1 so having both him and Jamo might be suboptimal but dang. ATM I have Njoku on the bench.

Another example is where I have Hollywood who put up 19.9 fantasy points and in my book that is Worthy of putting in your lineup. See what I did there? Yeah bad joke. So who are you benching here?

Nico, Tyreek, Flowers, G Wilson?

I wasn't really onto TB at all but in my ESPN home leagues their projections were a bit higher than anywhere else and caught my attention. Probably doesn't mean a lot. ATL could boatrace them.

This Gorilla format is so odd/interesting, allowing you to bench/start players who already played in a Thurs/Fri game. Whats the rationale? I’ve never heard of a league allowing this. Craziness.

Almost like Best Ball but with some human intervention and waiver moves still allowed.

FFPC has always held drafts up until today, when they introduced the early games it was the plan rather than move the draft weekend.

Ahhhh now i get it. You can’t do the Thursday swap all season. Just this first weekend. Nevermind. Carry on :)

I know, right?! That why I was like “wait, this kind of league setup exists? That’s messed up!”

Turns out, it was just my reading comprehension that was messed up.

I like Jax as a darkhorse week 1 DEF. Hosting Carolina. worked out
Seattle at home is always a really really really tough place to play. CMC maybe limited or out. worked out (CMC had 1000 touches tho)
TB on the road but against an unproven QB in Penix Penix looked really really good
CHI at home against an unproven QB in McCarthy with banged up receivers can't wait to see
Indy at home v Miami um yeah
Jets at home v Pittsburgh and the Rodgers experiment. Sauce might shut down DK and it might be ugly for PIT. ok not so much

Hollywood over Njoku worked out though Tyreek and Jamo both had crappy games. I benched G Wilson for Hollywood in the 2nd one. Nico what happened?

Harkening back to the misclicks topic on this thread from a few days ago, I almost just made a huge flub in one of my expensive FFPC dynasty leagues.

I was making an offer for Bijan Robinson. I didn't notice when looking at the rosters page that the guy had Brian Robinson as well. When I went to the trades page, guess which one I clicked the check mark next to?

I'm glad I've developed the habit of always clicking "view trade" after I send over an offer to double check it. I did not mean to offer Rome + 1st + 2nd for BRIAN Robinson, lol.

Oof. Good catch.
