Final Middle School Football Game - "Wet" ted Out (1 Viewer)

Just got text from 7th grade son.  Last game of the season has been cancelled tonight due to "wet" field.  We've had less than an inch of rain since Saturday.  Would the field be muddy?

Yes, but wouldn't the kids love it?

I'm like WTF?

I grew up in Iowa and wife is from Nebraska, and we are "SMH???". remember playing in freezing weather and snow.

I'm guessing that the coaches didn't want to stand out in the 60 degree weather with drizzle for 3 hours (A and B team games).

I guess I get to watch election returns.........

The schools just don't put a lot of importance in that.  A couple years ago we had a snowstorm the day of the JH conference wrestling tournament and it was canceled and never rescheduled so no conference tournament for the season.

Yeah, it's not that the coaches want a night off.  It's that the fields' coordinator made a determination that playing on the wet field while fun and fine will destroy the field for future use.  You can't have 7th graders tearing up a wet field.

Turf field, makes it that much more difficult to understand.

Same thing happened to me and my best friend Seth in 7th grade. We were so pissed we went down to the town square in singlets (no headgear) and pinned everyone we could get our hands on.

You think a football player's parents can get out of hand?  There is nothing crazier than wrestling parents!

Well, if they're not playing a football game in Texas due to a little wet grass, then forget Trump or Clinton because it really IS over.

Or
Its more likely the school is worried about the field surface as they have people using it other than Middle School ball. We used to play Pop Warner at a local high school. Pro level field. Drains a ton of water per second. If the AD thought it would.be too much on the turf they called the game. Had it happen when there hadn't been rain in a couple of days. Turf is expensive.
