He has done well throughout the preseason, but Damian (Williams) also has done very well. Damian was one block away from a big return on one punt.

(on if cutting draft picks is a sign that you have more depth or if you haven’t got what you are looking for)

I think what happened was we filled out some spots through free agency. You look at the draft and the numbers on the board and you look at your depth chart and then you have guys left on the draft board and you say let’s give this guy a shot. Our numbers were real good going into the draft. In the event that that does happen, that doesn’t mean to say that we have lost interest in the players and they don’t have a chance to become good players in time.

(on if he needs the same guy to return punts and kickoffs in relation to the 45-man game roster)

Really it is a decision that we will make, but I have no concern whatsoever and do not have a problem with the same guy doing both.

(on if he will have more conversations with Kenny Britt after his poor performance)

That process is ongoing. We are going to continue to work with him and his ability to focus and put distractions behind him and not let them carry over from one play to the next or carry over into a game. It is an ongoing process.

(on if he is concerned Kenny Britt’s problems will carry into the regular season)

It is a part of the learning process. If I suspect that there are issues, then he is not a part of the 45. That is pretty simple. If his mind is clear and he is focused and ready to play, he is potentially a really good player. If I suspect there to be a problem, we have other receivers that I will play instead of Kenny.

He has been consistent. You have seen him on the practice field. You have seen him do a lot of good things. He hasn’t had a lot of opportunities as far as opportunities to make big plays in the game up until this week. With the drop, you have to make that catch. That was a well executed play and a fine throw by the quarterback and anticipating him being in a spot in traffic. He has to make that catch.

Mariani has been the Titans best wide receiver this summer, without question. An easy guy to root for, he's one that's probably "not supposed to be that good."

Once Williams began playing, he's played real well.

I see this as Fisher struggling with the idea of keeping 6 WRs and cutting one of these that performed excellent while keeping another who has a wealth of potential, but hasn't been producing.

Even Hawkins has made some nice plays and improved as the Titans hoped for. 6 WRs is usually too many though.

I'd be wary if I was a Britt owner. Another reason to like Nate Washington and Bo Scaife. If Jared Cook finally puts it all together, he could really flourish, but right now, Bo Scaife is the one to have.

I'll tell ya what-as much as one can tell before an NFL game, it looks like Cook just might have put it all together. It's worth FF folks going to see the replays of the last two Titans games. There's a grab in traffic, leaping for a high one another showing his speed. Most of them he also makes a move after he makes the catch which isn't so common for TEs.Keep in mind Fisher wants him (and his speed) to block for CJ and that's the foremost reason they drafted him and still something Fisher wants, but he's a playmaker at TE. It's somewhat exciting to see knowing week 1 is coming up.

Scaife is still a tough guy to wrestle the ball away from over the middle and that will always be useful, but I think Cook's going to get work between the 20s.

The Titans have used the deep ball with very little success in the past, short of Roydell Williams. This preseason, in camp, and in scrimmage/joint practices- they have had a large number of long completions. I absolutely think that more deep balls are in the 2010 plans.

It is relatively easy far easier for Heimerdinger to move folks around to get a favorable matchup for Cook than anyone else.

Any deep ball or any LB/S worried about Cook brings attention away from CJ as well.

The Cook bandwagon will fill up fast. I think he has to be picked up now if he's available.

I dropped Britt for BMW. After hearing nothing but negative things about Britt and seeing nothing but negative things in the preseason games I caught, I'd rather take my chances with Williams at this point. May come back to bite me, but he was my WR5 anyway.

I agree with this. This is also why I'm not low at all on Britt yet. He's going to be the most reliable deep threat and the most consistent WR over the middle. It's kind of a no-brainer when you really look at the roster that there has to be a desire to get Britt Cook and Young posing significant threats so they can create space and counter what are obviously going to be "stop CJ2K" game plans from defenses.
