Ok let's all take a crack at playing GM for our favorite team. Name 3 players on your current roster you would like the team to resign, 3 players from other teams you would like your team to get in free agency, and then give me 3 players you would like your team to come out of the 2013 NFL Draft with. It doesn't necessarily have to be the first 3 rounds picks just 3 players you want in the draft. Try and come as close as you can with projected rounds of players in the draft. Nobody should have Geno Smith, Jarvis Jones, and Luke Joeckel as the 3 players they want in the draft....lol. Ok I will start with my favorite team the Minnesota Vikings:

3 resigned free agents: RT Phil Loadholt, CB AJ Jefferson, and DT Kevin Williams

3 free agents: DT Henry Melton, OG Andy Levitre, and S Jarius Byrd

3 draft picks: MLB Manti Te'o, OLB Chase Thomas, WR Cordarelle Patterson

Detroit Lions:

3 resigned free agents: DE Cliff Avril, K Jason Hanson, LB Justin Durant

3 free agents: OT Jake Long (dream on, but he'd be HUGE; more likely RT Andre Smith), OG Andy Levitre, CB Quentin Jammer (should not be too expensive and the Lions can use better coverage and veteran leadership)

3 draft picks: MLB Manti Te'o (fills a positional need and seems to have good character), DB David Amerson (I like the kid but he might make a better safety in the NFL) ;Interior OL Larry Warford, Travis Frederick, Khaled Holmes

Wow great post.

Saints:

3 resignings:

Sean Payton

Chris Ivory

Sean Payton

3 free agents (let's just pretend the money was there):

Dwayne Bowe or Ramses Bardon or Danario Alexander

Seb Vollmer or Leonard Davis

Chase Blackburn

3 draft picks (let's just say position right now):

Offensive tackle

LB

WR

Buffalo Bills

Resignings

FS - Jairus Byrd

OG - Andy Levitre

DE - Kyle Moore

Byrd and Levitre are obvious resigns. I think we lock them both up possibly before the season is over. Kyle Moore is a guy I love to watch and think his upside could be big. He has great pass rush ability and playing on the other side of Mario Williams and next to our DT's, the kid could be good. Hopefully we resign him on the cheap.

Free Agents

WR - Dwayne Bowe

CB - Brent Grimes

CB - Jason McCourty

In an unrealistic world we go after and get Flacco (or even Schaub) but that's not happening. And yes, 2 CB's. We play the Patriots twice a year and we have only one good CB and it's our rookie Gilmore (and he's gonna be great someday). We need a LB badly but I don't think there is anyone out there good enough to list here or the fits our scheme.

Draft Picks

1st round - BEST QB AVAILABLE - I don't know who it's gonna be, especially if Geno is gone, but I think we take one in the 1st or 2nd.

2nd round - C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama - The Bills desperately need help at LB. If Mosley is gone then Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford should be the pick.

3rd round - Cobi Hamilton, WR, Arkansas - Him or any weapon for our new franchise QB. I wouldn't mind getting a new TE possibly either.

Nice one. But realistically, will they resign Cliff? And is he worth it? To me he seems like a good player who will never get to the level of being great. Thought I read, though, he's expected to command a premium as a FA. IDK, not informed enough to say, but my sense is KVB has declined and Avril has plateaued. I guess you're thinking retain that piece while filling other more pressing needs (instaed of creating a new one)?Jammer was a guy that was once projectred as a Lions 1st rounder. I've forgotten if he was off the board or they passed (probably for a WR). Have to look that up.

We took Joey Blue Skies with the 3rd pick and the Chargers took Jammer with the 5th. Nice pick Millen. As far as Cliff Avril goes, he should have taken the deal the Lions offered him. He won't ever see that kind of money again. He is a wide 9 DE and there are only a handful of teams that will want his services. If he is asked to do more than speed rush, something like play the run, forget it. I like Cliff, don't get me wrong...but I there is no way on this earth he is worth 10.6 million. Not this year, not next year, not ever. The Giants get production out of guys making much less, for one example. Cliff isn't Pierre-Paul or Umenyiora and makes much more.Just think what that 10.6 million could have done for our defensive backfield. God forbid a RB that can change the game.

Chicago Bears:

Resign:

MLB Brian Urlacher, DT Henry Melton, SLB Nick Roach

FA's:

LT Jake Long, DE Osi Umenyiora, OG Andy Levitre

Draft:

OT Taylor Lewan, OL Barrett Jones, CB Nickell Robey

For the Bears:

Three re-signings:

Henry Melton – Priority number one for the Bears, in my opinion.

Israel Idonije – Helps Bears maintain d-line depth which has been so important to their success

Brian Urlacher – 2 years max for much less than he makes now.

3 Free Agents:

Ryan Clady – Bears need to immediately lock down a tackle position

Delanie Walker – I like Walker’s ability to block and make plays in the passing game. Davis isn’t the answer here.

Andy Levitre – An actual, professional offensive lineman who is only 26. Louis’ injury only adds more questions to the interior of the line.

Obviously, salary cap juggling would need to be done to accommodate my wish for Clady and/or Levitre, but this is my 70% wish/30% realistic free agents

3 draft picks:

OT - Dallas Thomas - Bears will probably be picking relatively late in the first round. This kid is athletic, durable and hasn’t peaked. It’s not a good sign when Carimi has gotten hurt, lost his job, and been considered to move inside all in his first season and a half.

S – TJ McDonald – The Bears have been looking for good safety play for years. He has the athletic ability to be a difference maker in the secondary. Also, has experience with Tampa 2 as his coordinator was Monte Kiffin, so that could help the transition to the pros. Hasn't had the outstanding senior season that he hoped for when he bypassed the 2012 draft.

OG – Hugh Thornton – Give the Bears’ needs on the offensive line, his versatility will be very useful, as he has played both guard and tackle in his career.

Would have liked to find a linebacker in the first three rounds, as Urlacher and Briggs can’t play forever, but couldn’t find a good fit when it came to talent + draft position + need.

Other moves:

Draft TE Joseph Fauria later in draft. Is a bit like Aaron Hernandez, and can be a big weapon in red zone. Bit of a head case earlier in his career, but really got his head on straight when he was finally coached by someone who knew what he was doing (Jim Mora and staff)

Draft a quarterback

Joey :bag: of course, that isn't quite as bad as Carr when they could have had Peppers. I like Cliff enough to keep him but I don't expect him to cost as much as he wants. He isn't worth close to what he wants but I'd rather keep him around for another year or two instead of creating more needs. If they could get a top DE in the draft or had one they were developing, I'd be for saving money from Avrill and addressing the OL. I'm just a bit hesitant to get rid of veterans and "rebuild" with the Lions again. (dang, it's tough to be a fan of that franchise)

Packers...

(Packers FA)

1) Erik Walden (role player)

2) Sam Shields

3) Greg Jennings (cap friendly deal, if not, let him walk)

(FA to bring in, this is going off an old list, hopefully it is still accurate)

1) Reggie Bush (I still love his talent)

2) Andy Levitre-OG

3) Nick Collins-Some way, some how (more of a pipe-dream and really I don't want the risks to his long term health)

(Draft)

1) Ricky Wagner-OT

2) Gerald Hodges

3) Bacarri Rambo-S

3)

Free Agents

Jasper Brinkley – I don't think the Vikings have a realistic shot a Manti Teo without trading up.

Phil Loadholt – Vikings need to keep some stability on the Oline.

Jamarca Sanford – cheap to re-sign, great team player and excels at special teams

Additions

Dwaynee Bowe – Might be too expensive given the demand for WRs in the league

Philip Wheeler – Erin Henderson is a free agent Wheeler would be and upgrade

Keenan Lewis – I expect Lewis to be re-signed by the Steelers but there are very few young CBs available as UFAs.

Draft picks

Jonathan Cooper, OG

Tyler Bray, QB

Cordarrelle Patterson, WR

Yeah we will have to trade up a bit for Te'o maybe but Spielman loves his Golden Domers and has shown he will trade up for a guy he really likes like Harrison Smith last year.

After watching yesterdays game I think Minnesota needs to think about bringing in an experienced QB like Alex Smith or sending a pick or 2 to Seattle for Matt Flynn.

While I like drafting OT...I would rather they spend FA on an OT over Reggie Bush and still draft a tackle since Bulaga regressed as well. Dead on about Collins for sure...really miss that guy.Own FAs...Agree with the 3 you list. This year is not hugely pressing. I like the role that Walden plays...but they have a little more depth there once they get Perry back and can keep drafting there. More pressing to lock up Raji and Matthews and Rodgers sooner than later though. But following the thread...those 3 would be my choice as well.Signing other FAs...without names...my priority list isOTCSDraft...Ive not even come close to looking at anything like that yet.
