Flooded in at a Costco an hour from home. AMA (1 Viewer)

Dozens of cars at a standstill and everyone's honking

THANKS, BOUDREAUX, EVERYONE ELSE FORGOT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DRIVE.

75 people standing outside a Costco all just got the same text message alert of flash flooding.  It was pretty surreal watching everyone check it simultaneously.

One hot young mother who had to run through the rain in a white shirt is very aware she is the prime rib at the buffet right now. I can almost hear Kelly Clarkson singing "some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this" in her head.

At least you are stocked with provisions in case this lasts a few days. Has anyone called dibs on the pallet of pretzel chips?

A woman tried to make a break for it carrying a 10-pack of paper towels over he head as an umbrella.

She tripped.

Paper towels are still dry at least.  Gotta love that Kirkland brand packaging.

What samples did you get?  I went today, and struck it rich with NY Strip steaks and Healthy Choice frozen fudge bars

Literally every man here is having a great time. "Anyone want another hot dog? I think I'll try the chicken bake."

Women all appear to be certain this is the end of the world. Except for hot young mom.  She's pretty sure she's Margaery Tyrell in our new kingdom.

Everyone's (exaggeration, obviously) decided they've had it and are going to try to get out.

Makes you remember how few people you want to be around in a crisis.  It's been less than two hours since I got here, and these people are on the verge of a revolution despite having access to cheap food and drink and everyone having a smart phone.

Yeah, I'm having trouble seeing how this qualifies as a crisis.  One more hour in that lockdown and I'm asking around, "Does anyone here know how to make really good shrimp 'n' grits?"

HF, how deep is the water around Costco? Can't be more than a foot, huh? I know Mid City can flood quick, though.

We spent most of the day in Harvey ... just regular old on-and-off rain down here.

Problem is it's coming in waves.  Flash floods. It'll be a foot deep in the parking lot

Just looked at WWL's site ... looks like a lot of Mid City got close 2 feet of water. Enough to just cover regular sized car tires.
