This was without Jackson in the lineup, but still impressive

If I'm not mistake he left week 6 early due to injury...that's a great stretch from weeks 1 to 5.

fanstasy wise as Floyd owner little disappointed because he is #3 in the pecking order at best. But as a bolt slappy Im very happy
In reality, I'm not sure there were really a ton of better places he could have gone. He'll never be a PPR machine but I think will be a decent WR3/4. Guess I'll dump Crayton back on the wire :D

I like Floyd. I'm always puzzled on why he is not given credit for his emergence. Seems Vincent Jackson is regarded as an elite talent by all but any other WR in San Diego has quickly been labeled a product of Phillip Rivers. I think Floyd is given too little credit.

Ugh, this VJax owner does not approve.
This is good for Jackson. He's going to get his, there's enough to go around, and having Floyd on the other side just makes it easier for him.
I disagree... Floyd is a tall receiver (6'5" the same height as VJax) which means he will compete with VJax for jump ball opportunities in the red zone. I also think Floyd signing a 2year deal doesn't bode well for VJax returning next season. As a VJax owner I hate this news.

I've always thought Floyd was a decent receiver, but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. He's one of a bunch of tall clone receivers the Chargers have on their roster that matches P. Rivers throwing ability, and ability to leap for the high ball. One of the better clones, but still just a clone. On any other team, he'd not nearly have his relative success.

Good for him staying put and not exposing himself for the average talent guy he is. San Diego is better today to have him back, no doubt. But he's a product of the system, reliant on the great P. Rivers.

Floyd won't determine whether Jackson gets a long term deal or not. Floyd may take a jump ball TD or two away from Jackson, but I doubt it. Rivers hits whoever he reads open 1st, and having a legit NFL WR on the other side instead of a 2nd round rookie means it'll be even easier for Jackson to get open. Jackson is a stud. With Gates having a chronic injury there's a good shot Jackson puts up the best receiving stats on the squad this year - just like he did in 2009 with Floyd & Chambers on the other side.

You're probably right regarding Floyd having little affect on whether or not they keep Jackson next year. And I also hope you're right on Floyd's complimentary role. If Gates loses any time this year Jackson is going to be in for a big statistical year.

9-140-0 in week 16 in 2009 without V Jax, but has 1 (one, uno, singular) 100 yard game in 49 (quick count) games with VJax on the field and has 5 Tds in 13 games without V Jax and 11 TDs in 49 games with VJax. He is 2 years older than VJax and missed 4 games in 2006, 10 games in 2007, 3 games in 2008 and 5 games in 2010. I Vjax gets traded or Gates can't go Floyd is a good late round flier but he has done nothing to earn the #2 status in SD and could be replaced by an emerging talent very easily.

Good signing, he seems like one of those WRs who get dinged for a few games a year so it's good to add depth. After last year, Rivers offense should be ready to click on all cyclinders.

Jackson has been playing with Floyd for a while now, and he's done just fine. No reason for that to change now. And I'm probably the biggest Floyd fan in this forum.

He has done nothing to earn the #2 WR position? You mean other than earning that position after Chambers left in midseason 2009 and earning the #1/#2 WR position in 2010? Why would you think any other WR would beat him out when he has held the position for the past two years?
