Following Rotten Teams (1 Viewer)

Mr. Know-It-All

As a Cardinal fan this year has been brutal with a staff ERA that resembles a slowpitch softball team ERA. The only other teams I follow with any regularity are the Rockies (my son is a huge Todd Helton fan), and in the AL I try to catch as many games as I can involving the Rangers or the Royals.

So of all the teams in MLB, the teams that I actually like to watch are probably the four worst teams in baseball (this year).

Good lord, this has been a long season and we aren't even halfway home.

Edit to add - well, I just checked and the Rockies are a lot better than I thought they were...

the following teams are worse (record wise) than the Rockies:

Marlins, Orioles (same record as Rockies)

Giants

Blue Jays

Pirates

Cubs

Astros

Yankees

DRays

Nats

Reds

One of the teams you follow just one a World Series last year. I'm in my 10th year of exclusively watching the DRays.

No whining.

I second that, Capella. Come and try living in Philly for a couple months. Cripes, it's 23 years and counting waiting for a championship. And our baseball team has made the playoffs once in the last 24 years, and we are counting the losses to become the first ever pro sports team with 10,000 losses. :goodposting: TEN THOUSAND I SAID. Stick that in your whiny tailpipe. :lmao: :wall:

I'm a Cards fan, but I do pay attention to what's going on with the D-Rays. I was born in Tampa, so that's why.

Plus, hearing Capella's despondent commentary makes it fun. :goodposting:

Up until last Thursday I would have chimed in that KC was 16-17 in their last 33 after a 3-11 start.......

But they have proceeded to suck all the hope out of a city with a 7 game skld that has seen them score about as many runs as I have fingers, and I ain't missin' any digits. -- it has been brutal!

For a time, KC had the better record than STL.

I actually do check the DRays box score daily thanks to Capella. Maybe I just like to root for the underdog.I might even try to catch a DRay game when I am on vacation - it is a long drive from where I am staying at, though.

The Trop, from what I've heard here and other places, has improved over the years. When I went in approx 2001, it was a dump.I think the Beach seats (left field mid-deck) were $5 at the time, though.

 You don't know what hell is like until you've been where Cappy and I have been the last 10 years

Trop is vastly improved from even 2005. I'm no longer embarrassed to bring people to the park. It was a dump until new ownership threw some long overdue money into the park (club is next). You can get seats in the OF for $17. As long as it isn't Boston or NY, the "scalpers" on the outside give you great deals. I got a seat behind home plate last year for $30

What he said. Not to mention the Flyers' season being over since around Thanksgiving. And don't even start on the Iggles.

How long is the drive from St Augustine to Tampa?

I live in Tampa and spent Memorial Day in St A...The drive is about 2.5 hours. You have to get thru Orlando at a good time though.Add another 30 minutes to get thru St Pete to the Trop...looking at about 3 hours. If you do go, try to plan dinner or post-game in downtown St Pete...a lot of cool restaurants and bars.

You must have been flying to do that in 2.5 hours. From Jax to Disney (Western side of Orlando), it's usually about 2.5 hours for us. From Jax to Tampa, I'll usually go I-10 to I-75 and it's more like 4 and change to Tampa. I95 to I-4 is a much more direct route from St. Aug to Tampa. I just really hate I-4. Of course a lot all depends on time of day.

 I also usually go 75 to 326 (a cut-off just north of Ocala), then over to 301, then up to I10, then in to Jax...and it takes about 2:45. I don't drive 100, but I definitely speed a little...except thru Lawtey. You should try that route instead...it's definitely shorter and quicker.

The I4-95 route is slower, but you do cut off a 1/2 hour starting from St Augustine. Maybe 3 is more realistic into Tampa, then another 1/2 hour to St Pete.

I work next door to Sea World which is right in the middle of I-4. It takes me 75 minutes to get to the Trop from there. It also takes me 2:15-2:30 to get to downtown St. Augustine from there so I would figure close to 4 hours to to get to the Trop if you did solely 95 to 4 to 275.

When I lived in Jax, I would cut through from 220 onto 24 and catch 75 in Gainesville and that was also right around 4 hours.

I live at the fringe of UCF's campus now and it takes me 2 hours to go door to door and I'm 110 miles away.
