Hey Ilov, something called me away and I never got a chance to respond. Yeah, I do plan on being around more. I caught the lay of the land and what it means for politics. I was sort of keeping away because I was right in the midst of doing and talking about stuff that isn't allowed on this website, and I didn't want to antagonize anybody and disrespect Joe, so I figured I'd move along for a bit. I didn't announce it or anything because I planned on coming back, and I didn't want to draw any attention or have people ask why (plus I knew i'd be back).
How have you been? What is the new job and where did you go on vacation? Was it fun? Is the job fun? Will you be able to be here or is it something where you'll comment less often?
Good to hear from you. I'm glad you responded. It's been a while and it's good to see you around. Peace, man.

Cool, glad you will be around. I will be too. The new job is still teaching but it’s a 30% raise. Kind of life changing money actually. Michigan is one of the few States where you can actually make some nice money in education. The vacation was amazing- Venice and Rome with my wife and our 2 best friends. Now back to reality helping to take care of my MIL and “adopted” daughter. It’s all good though, I love them a ton so there’s worse ways to spend the summer.
Glad you are back around, I was a little worried! I look forward to plenty of music talk. You got to get on that Vampire Weekend and report back!

Hey, bud! Aw, that gave me a big old softie smile. Thanks, man. It's awesome to see you around. I saw the gardening thread pop up the first page and wondered how you were. I also thought of otb the other day. I haven't heard from him in a long time. I miss that guy. Every so often, I wonder when I'm going to get a call on my phone that's obviously him because he'd use this sort of emergency contact thing that could only be him; and I would just be like, "Oh, it's otb. Awesome. I think my phone is melting." lolwut bruh. Too funny.
Love it. Won't soon forget him. I hope he's around and contacts us out of the blue one of these days. Anyway, good to hear from you Cowboysfan8.
Man, Mookie's injury must be driving you nuts, huh? I only follow baseball glancingly, so I didn't know he was hurt until today. Six-eight weeks for a hand? Hey, at least it wasn't his wrist. Nomar ruined his career in '99 when he took at high and tight fastball right off of the inside of his wrist. He was never the same. It was a total shame and I could swear that guy from the O's did it on purpose. Ruined our '99 playoffs. Argh. I wanted to spit. Anyway, enough of that on my end. Take care, bud.

So you went Rome and Venice? Oh my. That's a wonderful trip; that you got to go with friends is amazing! How was it? We went to Rome in 2019. Did you do the Vatican and the Colosseum? I swear I was just talking to the Moms today about Italy and Spain. I had said that the highlight of my trip was actually the Sistine Chapel. I was in another world mentally when I was in the room. It was divinity. I just felt so peaceful that I couldn't and can't describe it. I was overwhelmed, maybe. At least I didn't start weeping or get Stendahl Syndrome or something like that. Thank God.
I had started talking to her about it because somebody had posted pictures on Twitter or something of a Spanish architect named Antoni Gaudi, who I had done a walking and bus tour of in Barcelona, which was our second leg for our second week in Europe. Gaudi was from Catalonia and lived from 1852-1926. And the buildings he designed are these extraordinary modern buildings. They're just . . . breathtaking. They're alive and resplendent with color, but they're not tacky. They're utterly wonderful. I have kind of austere tastes, and these just are so beautiful and worthy of attention. You could almost eat them; that's how aesthetically pleasing they are. They also look like he'd done a metric ton of LSD or something, but not in that '60s bad trip sense. Maybe more like absinthe? Or just a creative person . . . regardless, here are some of the buildings. I'd encourage you to click and check these out when you get a minute. Stunning stuff. If not, cool anyway. Thanks for humoring me.

Before this, we had seen the Picasso museum and it was just an awesome trip. That's where they get the artist from The French DIspatch from, I believe. The museum emphasized how Picasso mastered like all these forms until he hit eighteen, and then he developed and got into his proverbial ****, as it were. It was another mind-blowing experience. Anyway, I hope your trip went wonderfully also, and that you and the Mrs. had a fantastic time. How was Venice? I gotta ask. That had to have been wild.
And I almost forgot to ask how your "adoptee" was doing. Does she live with you or are you just sort of a mentor and caretaker who helps out? I hope that's going well and bringing you joy and not too much stuff, man. I think the last thing before I left (I'd read late night) she had been talking to someone and maybe hadn't been straight with you, but I think you had worked it out and felt good about it. That was probably back in January or February. Regardless, I hope that's going well, bruh.

Awesome explanations of the Gaudi work, I went to Barcelona in high school and agree it's surreal. Really 1 of a kind stuff that's hard to actually explain. I'd love to get back to Spain some time. The trip was so much fun. A perfect blend of art, history, food and drink. We did the big historical stuff: Vatican, Colosseum,/Forum/Palentine Hille, a couple crypts and lots of random churches that are all 100x more amazing than almost anything we have here in the US. Venice we did a food tour, St Marks and a priate boat tour with a drunk local that was one of the most fun times of my life- he was a riot. Lots of wine, spritz, cacio y pepe. Loved it.

My adoptee is doing pretty good. She doesn't live with me but she stays with us from time to time. Is coming to the family cottage for a week for the holiday. There are ups and downs. She had a recent episode with drinking that was ugly but she made a good choice by calling me to pick her up and get her out of the situation. We had a long emotional night followed by a day of nursing her back into shape. It bad but in a weird way was good bonding. I am glad she called when she was in trouble and it was another chance for her to see that no matter how bad things were, I truly have her back no matter what. She's such a sweet kid. Made me a beautiful handmade fathers day card. I am pretty sure when she turns 18, she will ask me to legally adopt her (which ofc I will). It's really been one of the best things to ever happen- she's a mess but she's my little mess.
Anythng new with you? How are you feeling about the upcoming Jets season?
