Which model? And what do you do in terms of maintenance?I've had a tornado for 13 years now and it's holding up great.
Had to go look.....it's a Storm IIMaintenance isn't much. I keep it clean, wipe up any spills good when they happen. Just put a little silicon on the bars every 6-9 months or so to make sure they're smooth and that's about it.This thing has a lot of use on it too. My buddies and I would have 5-6 hour sessions on this thing every weekend. With wives and kids now, we rarely get to play but our kids are just now getting into it. still sturdy as ever.Which model? Very much a "Get what you pay for' thing.... I'd go high end used over cheap new.
Well, if there's anyone's advice I'm going to trust, it's yours! Still, it seems to me that the premium tables are so much better constructed that they will hold up better to abuse over the years. Ended up purchasing a used Tornado Cyclone II table from Craigslist. Almost killed myself (and others) moving it and getting it upstairs to our game room. Totally worth it though. We've been having a blast with it.'Foosball God said:Very much a "Get what you pay for' thing.... I'd go high end used over cheap new.It really depends on how in to it you are. Why?Old school duetschmeisters are the way to go....

i was just curiousIt was set up with three keepers when I bought it. Should I change it? It's not like we're training for competition play. We really only use the side keepers for fishing the ball out of the corners.
My main challenge has been getting my kids not to spin. My 13-year-old no longer spins and has gone from getting routinely dominated by me to splitting our games evenly. Another month and I'll never win another game. My 10-year-old still spins like crazy.i was just curiousIt was set up with three keepers when I bought it. Should I change it? Always played with 1 keeper/2fullbacks back in the day on the Hurricane and Tournament tables. Actually played in a bar league back then and took on and beat a couple of touring Tournament pros (after a couple of tries. It was set up with three keepers when I bought it. Should I change it? how old?Like to bump this for looking to get one for my son. Not seeing any used Toronado out their but have been looking at (new) Carrom types for around 5-600 buck. Any new updated suggestions.
Really depends on how in to it you (or your son) are. In the "real" foosball world in the U.S. there is Tornado, at a lower level Warrior, and then everyone else.Like to bump this for looking to get one for my son. my Harvard table holds up well and it wasn't exspensive
No suggestions other than don't go cheap. You get what you pay for with these things. We went cheap and my boys are destroying the table. I think they've snapped 5 or 6 players in half already.Like to bump this for looking to get one for my son. - Age doesn't really matter with a Tornado table. As I tell people, if there were a nuclear war two things would survive - cockroaches and a Tornado foosball table. Especially when you're talking about a coin-op. So unless the thing has been horribly abused I wouldn't worry about the age. IIRC the "blonde", as that table is known, was manufactured sometime in the Late 90's to early 2000's so you're talking about approximately a 15 year old table. I have a "brown marble" that is close to 30 years old in my basement, and still plays about as good as brand new. It's well maintained of course.otay2ff said:Hi,
Great thread. Played alot of foosball in my younger days. Wondering if anyone can give me an opinion on this Tornado table I found locally on craigslist. Other than the men being of mis-matched color is there any other things I should be looking for/checking out. Should the table come with any particular tool to change the men, etc. Is the $450 price good? Not sure how old the table is. Thanks in advance for all the advice.

Tornado changed all that. Before Tornado, Tournament Soccer ruled the U.S. foosball world. Big money tournaments, the most market share, and their tables had the single man goalie. Since they dominated all the cheap tables also used a single man goalie. Then TS went bankrupt and Tornado slowly took over the foosball world. Tornado's always had the three man goalie. They did that to make it cheaper to manufacture. No ramps or insets in the corners. They also widened the goal. As Tornado's influence grew other manufacturers started using the three man goalie as well.I see all these 13 man tables out there now. When did that happen? In my heyday- late 70's through mid 80's- 11 was the norm:
1 keeper
2 defensemen
5 midfielders
3 attackers
I can't even play on these 13 player tables!![]()
I'm aghast. Not kidding. I may be the pearl-clutcher of foosball regulations, but a three-person goalie doesn't seem right.Tornado changed all that. Interesting note - You can now get a Tornado with a single man goalie due to international rules requirements.
If that's your price range you're better off with a Warrior.Anyone hear of Carrom. This was the table I am considering.
