for whom the bell tolls: 49ers Nolan and Fins Cameron (1 Viewer)

Both these guys are on shifting sands, update when somethign becomes official or list predictions here.

Nolan last seen on New Year's eve after a six hour meeting with owners Jed and John York, expected to resume today. Sounds like he loses his management of personnel decisions at least if retained.

Cam last seen hearing that his GM and confidente Randy Mueller was fired by Bill Parcells, 4 hours after it happened from the Dolphins PR man.

Anyone else getting the axe? DC of the Raiders, Ryan, fired last night.

:bs:

I think Parcells ultimately wants Ireland as the GM and to assume the duties before the draft. Inorder for miami to do that without giving up compensation, he has to show that Ireland has total control of player/personell moves. If Parcells fires Cam before getting Ireland in place it will show that Parcells is running the team. I think the only way Parcells fires Cam before getting Ireland on board is if there is a coach out there that Parells really wants and there is the possibility of losing that coach to another team if they don't move fast enough.

Great point, add that to the fact that Parcells did not even sniff endorsing Cam with media, and the writing is on the wall

I believe it was Rex Ryan of the Ravens that was fired last night.ETA:From Rotowire:Ravens fired defensive coordinator Rex Ryan. The Ravens fired Brian Billick's entire staff in a house cleaning effort, although GM Ozzie Newsome indicated Ryan will interview to replace Billick. If Ryan doesn't get that job, which we'd guess he won't, it appears he'll be a free agent. Ryan will be highly coveted around the league.

ESPN just reported on SportsCenter the Miami situation should be resolved tomorrow one way or another.

Armando Salguero also just said on Miami Ticket radio that Parcells is looking at two guys ahead of Cameron, who both must be interviewed as HC candidates, Todd Haley from AZ and Sparano from DAL. My bets are on Haley. Possible update on Wednesday but no guarantees.Reports out of SF's Matt Maioco, Santa Rosa Press Democrat have the rumor that Nolan will somehow hold on. Mike Singletary is a dark horse HC if Nolan leaves. Announcement Wednesday.

Both Ryans were fired yesterday.... Rex Ryan DC of the Ravens (along with B. Billick) and Rob Ryan DC of the Raiders who might be replaced by Monte Kiffin, Tampa Bay. This was long rumored and is no strange coincidence, as his son Lane is the HC presently and OAK finished close to last in defense.

I did hear that Bobby Knight (who coached at Indiana at the same time as Cam and is a very close friend of Parcells) gave a full endorsement of Cameron. I'm not certain how much weight this carries though.

Nolan is apparently keeping his job as coach.

Mike Nolan will keep his job as the coach of the San Francisco 49ers but will relinquish final say over personnel decisions, Yahoo! Sports has learned.

After two days of deliberation, 49ers owners John and Denise DeBartolo York decided Tuesday to retain Nolan, who has two years left on the five-year contract he signed before the 2005 season. His 16-32 record over three seasons, including a 5-11 mark in '07, put his job in jeopardy, and he will likely make changes to his coaching staff.

Nolan, who has also been the 49ers' de facto general manager since joining the franchise, agreed to give up front-office control as a condition of his return. The franchise will hire a general manager to assume those duties, and the leading contender is believed to be current vice president of player personnel Scott McCloughan.

Whoa...that would be a weird dynamic, wouldn't it? I mean, the son working for the dad is one thing. But you've got to have a pretty darn good father-son relationship to have it work the other way around.

I expected Nolan to stay. They will bring in Martz as the OC to try and turn things around. Nolan is not an offensive coach and losing Norv really seemed to set the offense back this year.

Cam is gone in my opinion, his only chance of staying would be if he had fan support and he lost any hope of that on draft day with the Ted Ginn pick and endorsement.

Could Alex Smith survive Martz being the OC? Is Darrell Jackson and Arnaz Battle cut out to be the next Bruce/Holt Combo. If Martz couldn't get his system to work in Detroit with better receivers why would it work in SF?

if Martz is the OC in Oakland next season, you can kiss Gore's status as a high-end RB goodbye.. he'll be lucky to crack the top 15 next season, then.

where does all of this 'Martz to be next OC in Oakland' info come from? sounds like wishful thinking on part of some Raiders' fans, or just some rumor floated by zealous FBG's posters.Cam Cameron would be a perfect fit for the Niners...he would turn Gore into what he was when Norv Turner coached the Niners offense last season, i.e, a STUD RB..

he had Ronnie Brown headed in that direction, and, he coached LT for years..

the guy knows a thing or two about being an OC..he's very good in that regard, as a HC< not so much..

Probably because he'd be going to San Francisco, not Oakland. And the first article I saw about him being fired from Detroit mentioned him landing in SF.

I read today that if Cam gets canned, he'll also be a candidate for the OC job in SF.

As a Phin fan that was for his hiring that would be a good fit for him. Give him no say in the players you draft (Ted Ginn) and just let him coach the offense and he would do ok, he did make Ronnie Brown look good.

Ronnie Brown made Ronnie Brown look good. He was the only guy on the team that looked like he was trying.

Now that the GM-Ireland fired Cameron, I am sure that the coordinators are getting axed pretty soon. I think that Ireland will let the new coach fire the coordinators- that is how we roll now in miami!

Dude they all got axed at the same time, other then two minor assistants with Parcells ties.

Great. Chan Gailey is the first to interview for the OC position. If the Nolan doesn't hire Cam, he needs to be fired on the spot.
