Frank Gore (1 Viewer)

I have been seeing (multiple fantasy football sites) and hearing (the audible, espn podcast) a lot of hate on Frank Gore on how horrible he looked on Sunday, so I wanted to see for myself how bad he really was. I have a subscription to GameRewind and watched every play he was involved in and I thought he looked good. The offensive line wasn't giving him any help on most of his runs. He still looks quick and doesn't seem to give up easily on first contact. I monitored the game and tried to be as un-bias as possible (i own him in one league this year) and I see nothing to worry about, unless of course his O-line performs like crap on a week-to-week basis, which is a decent possibility. I just really questioned the hate on him rather than just hating his situation. Anyone else see this or am i delusional?

I love Frank Gore, am a huge fan, own his jersey, and have him in a couple leagues as my RB1. And I am freaked out by his performance last Sunday. He did not look horrible, but he did not look like he used to, either. I thought he looked very fluid and explosive during the preseason, though, so I am reserving judgment until this Sunday, but I'd really like to move him before then if I could get close to equal value.

Frank Gore is a hard RB to own, unless you're in a PPR or yardage heavy league. If you look back at his seasons, they look pretty good, but it never seems good on a week to week basis. With the injury concerns, it makes it even more difficult.

Most unsexy RB in recent fantasy history. He's that guy starting you around his ADP and you dont want to take him. That said, he's been fairly productive.

Unfortunately, time isn't on the side of U backs who run like Mr Gore or his friend Mr Portis. Not a long shelf life...

I am certainly not in love with the guy and have never owned him in the past. The only reason I took him was because he was the last quality Top 10ish RB left in this particular auction league. If he sucks, it won't be that big of a deal because i have a ton of depth. I agree that his fantasy prospects are iffy, but as an NFL RB with all fantasy bias aside, he looked fine to me. He looked quick and still ran with some power here and there. Granted there were a couple of plays he did go down on first contact. The team around him is something I am worried about. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I have Felix, Beanie and Best backing him up, so it would be nice to know if he is on a steep decline in production.

I disagree, but then I'm a Gore fan. He has always had extreme upside, and I will always be grateful to him for saving my team in the first playoff week of a championship run in 2009. But I am starting to become concerned this could be his last year as a top RB .. and that might even be pushing things. Which makes me a little bummed because he truly is a quality player in every possible way except on camera charisma.

I don't think he is on a "steep decline" in production, but like I said, he has regressed from the Gore of years gone by. I still like him better than all the guys you named, but I think this is going to be a stressful year watching him and I don't think I'll be drafting him next year. Best case might be something like Portis in 2008 if Harbaugh can get this engine running.

Gore has been a great RB for years. One of the most underappreciated players in the NFL in a long time.

His end of year stats don't tell the whole story because of injuries, but his game logs are exceptional. When he plays, he's a bellcow stud.

He's a talented RB but a FF liability due to situation (blocking & ineffective QB.) I guess I'm not sure what exactly the "hate" is since I haven't followed any of his news as a non-owner. If the hate is on his talent / ability then it's probably unwarranted. If the hate is on his situation then it's warranted. He was snapped up mid 3rd in a league I'm in and I was hoping he'd fall another 2 spots to me, instead I landed Bradshaw and I'll probably be better off.

I've got him in a salary/contract league for three more years. Because of how the auction went down, he's the 18th highest paid RB in the league (9% of the salary cap).

I have depth at RB but am skinny at receiver. I thought he'd draw the most interest of my RBs because of his cheap contract. I tried to move him straight up this week for some top end, reasonably salaried receivers--all of them had two years remaining on their contracts. Dez Bryant and Vincent Jackson owners shot me down quickly even though both owners are weak at RB. Mike Wallace owner is intrigued by it but not ready to pull the trigger.

I thought Gore would draw more interest.

I watched portions of the game and am not disturbed by his performance at all. Also, he was on the field for all but 6 plays, too. Right now, there's probably zero other RBs that see that much action. I don't see with his workload how he finishes outside of the top 10/12, barring injury.

I don't think Harbaugh could've possibly been any more conservative than he was in week 1. He knew his x's were greater than Seattle's o's and the only real chance they had to lose was if Alex Smith did something stupid. They'll have to open the offense up a lot more to win games and that should help Gore some. They'll run him into the ground, so you'll at least get carries and even though he's already gotten paid, he does still have the motivation of becoming the 9'ers all time leading rusher hanging in front of him to keep him hungry. I'm trying to keep this glass half full! :banned:

Been a big gore fan since his rookie year and can tell you that he started to look a step slower last year, and definitely no where close to his 2006 form. That said, I think some of the issues with his running this past sunday has to do with the change in blocking schemes (niners are now mixing in zone blocking from the switch back to the WCO). Gore at times looked tentative, which is unusual considering one of his greatest attributes was his vision and decisiveness.

However having said that, where were more than a few occasions where I remember seeing him getting brought down when I thought he would make some extra yards. I also admit that after seeing the fresh legs of Kendall Hunter in the preseason, I am for the first time intrigued by the option of another RB toting the rock for the niners.

Looks like he's running on dead legs. Burst is gone, and he's getting no yards after contact. I'd take anything I could get for him at this point if I owned him. Hunter's time may not be as far away as initially projected

I have yet to see the O-line creata hole to run through. All defenses are keying on the running game.

That's what it looked like to me, the line isn't getting any push.
