FREAK FORMALLY OUT IN PHILLY

A league source tells us that the Eagles officially have dumped defensive end Jevon Kearse.

Kearse could return to the Titans. He was the league's defensive rookie of the year in 1999 with Tennessee. After his rookie contract expired, he jumped to Philly.

A serious knee injury knocked him out of action in 2006, and he was buried on the depth chart last season

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced on Thursday that they have released DE Jevon Kearse.

Kearse played in 45 regular-season games for the Eagles since 2004 and recorded 133 tackles and 22 sacks.

Kearse, who has battled injuries throughout his career, was limited to action in just 16 games over the past two seasons.

The 6-4, 265-pound Kearse spent the first five years of his career with the Tennessee Titans.

What team takes a flyer on this guy is my question?

He was positively terrible last year - He began the season as a starter and was demoted so far that he wasn't even activated for a few games. It was an utter collapse as a football player. I suppose there's a chance he finishes rehabbing his ACL and re-gains some weight, (he was nowhere near 265 last season) but I think Kearse is retired within a year, maybe after a training camp cut.
